Loved the Lakers. Loved Auerbach, too.

God be with him and his loved ones.

Red and his cigars are gone.Very sad, indeed.Looks like Howie Carr will have to have another death pool because somebody took Red in the last one.

An iconic figure for sure. If I smoked cigars, I'd fire one up in Red's honor.

A moment of silence.

Went to a Celts game in the Garden in the 70s...got to see him light up his cigar.

Absolutely. I'm sure the Celtics will give him quite the tribute before their home opener.

Wow! RIP, Red, and thanks for the many wonderful Celtics memories. I wonder what red is going to say now to Len Bias on that big parquet court in the sky.

Godspeed, Red. If there's basketball in heaven, he'll be coaching tomorrow.

No matter what one may have thought of the guy (I loved him) nobody can deny that he "got it done" as good as any coach/manager in sporting history. His record proves it.

Truly an American Icon. RIP.

Red was never the same again after they banned cigars from the Boston Garden. Neither were the Celtics.

RIP.

Red Auerbach last night had a vision..in it, he saw wilt chamberlain..so he had to ask, "wilt, tell me, is there basketball in heaven?"...wilt said, "red, you betcha, 300 teams"...red said, "that's great"..wilt replied, "well red, there's good news and bad news..the good news is, the finals are tied at 3 games apiece and I'm the starting center..the bad news is, you're coaching us in game 7"..

RIP Red..the game lost a good one..
