I've always known there was something wrong with Michael Savage's schtick. It's intolerable. He talks like an absolute madman. He is just about as intemperate as you can get and still be on the radio.
Now I know what was wrong. The whole thing is a put-on:
Supporting a candidate out of your own wallet may be the most accurate gauge of what a donor believes in his heart. So it should come as a shock to fans to learn where their hero distributes his own political gifts. Which are not ungenerous. Just ask Jerry Brown, the decidedly liberal candidate (pro-abortion, pro-gun control, etc.) for California attorney general.
As the San Francisco Chronicle reports, Savage is a top contributor to Brown's campaign against conservative state senator Chuck Poochigian. His gift of $5,600, the maximum allowable under state law, was merited, Savage told the Chronicle after being outed. Why? Because "You have to make choices in an imperfect world."
RIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGHHHTTTTT.

Actions have consequences.
You mean you're not fascinated by his gardening and his choice of wine?
Your post reveals an awful lot about you. Believe it or not, a person's being Jewish is irrelevant to most conservatives most of the time -- at least, in my personal experience with several generations of conservative family and friends.
I am a "regular distruptor" of the Weiner thread. My goal is to see that 100% of the Freepers recognize what a negative force he is for Conservatism. My second goal is to defend our Command in Chief when under attack, and to defend Conservative icons in America whom Weiner attacks constantly.
Weiner fans who claim to be Conservative need some major inner reflections.
Weiner is a reactionary, or he is a poser fooling a few million trained seals.
What's wrong with loving SHOW TOOOOOOOOOOOOONS!?!
He IS effective at achieving his aims.
ROFL. Excellent illustration.
"I figure him to be as conservative as any other Ph.D. from New York City living in San Francisco. "
Then you don't know anything about Milton Friedman, who was born in NYC and got his Ph.D. there (Columbia University), and who now lives in SFO.
[FYI, Uncle Miltie is definitely more conservative than Michael "Savage" Weiner could ever be EVEN IF Michael were 100% sincere.]
Thanks, already posted a couple of times.
No mas, Weiner, no mas.
Gee, you took the words right out of my mouth. By the way, stick that in your own ear.
At the time, his show was actually quite good; I listened every day.
Now? I listened for the first time in a long time the other day, and he was hung-over, or something. And insulting to his producer.
At this rate, he'll be gone in a year....maybe a year and a half.
And whereas any previous challenger made a poor substitute, my belief is that in time, Mark Levin WILL destroy him.
I never really thought I would say that about any of the Savage knock-off's, who (until now) clearly didn't really care about the underlying issues that drive talk-radio.
Sorry, not buying it. In the San Francisco Bay Area, it's called "insurance money".
Lighten up, Francis.
You are right on. I seriously doubt most of the Savage critics on FR have spent much time actually listening to his show or reading his books.
Does Savage go over the top sometimes? Certainly. So do some other consevatives. How about Rush, Pat Buchanan, Ann Coulter or Glenn Beck? I like all of them too.
I don't agree with Savage on all his positions, but I think he is right on most issues, especially the need to protect our border and preserve English as our national language. I don't agree with Savage about Jerry Brown, but I understand his position on Brown. He thinks Brown has moved to right philosophically and has become a moderate. Savage was impressed that Brown founded the Oakland Military Academy, which is a school designed give students from the inner city in Oakland a much more discplined learning envirnoment than they would find in the typical public school in Oakland. I too admire Brown for starting that school. Is that enough to make want to vote for him for AG? No. I will be voting in California elections for the first time on Nov. 7th and I will be voting for a straight Republican ticket , even the big RINO Arnold. Savage said it right when he said we live in an "imperfect world". I don't know that Arnold is all that far to the right of Brown these days. Now, if Savage endorsed Angelides then I would question his judgement.
Savage is a conservative who is a harsh critic of the Republicans at times and that is why a lot people on FR and in some other conservative circles don't like him. However, for all his criticism of Republicans he is far harsher when it comes to the Democrats. Savage excoriates liberals and Democrats on a daily basis. Anyone who suggests that Savage is somehow a liberal because he sometimes attacks Republicans is nuts. The Brown endorsement is a very rare exception for Savage. I don't think Savage has ever endorsed another Democrat for a major office. I know from listening to his show the past few weeks that there is NO WAY he wants to see Pelosi become speaker.
And if you call him Francis, he'll kill you.
And if you touch his stuff, he'll kill you.
When I use Weiner, it's as in Oscar Mayer...
Is your ping finger broken?
:)
Michael Savage addresses moderates and liberals just awakening in the SF Bay Area.
To most the Redstaters and those already conservative, yeah, I understand how he can come across.
Michael is not a liberal. And his son Russell is a staunch conservative.
When Thelton Henderson attempted to repeal Prop 209 (passed by majority vote, banning quotas/preferences in state entities), Michael organized a huge protest of Thelton Henderson in front of the SF Courthouse.
Ya might think this was just publicity for his roster, but then you might also have NO idea as to how brave a thing this was to do in San Francisco, at that time.
