Latest Polling: McClintock Up 4

by Brandon Powers - Los Angeles County 10-27-2006 5:00 pm

The results of Public Opinion Strategies’ latest tracking poll is in, and it has Lt. Governor nominee Tom McClintock up 4-points.

The survey, conducted over the last few nights with a sample of 800, has Tom up 39-35 with 15% undecided.

Further, of those who’ve already voted, Tom’s up even bigger: 43-35.

And despite attacks against him, Tom’s overall image rating remains in the neighborhood of 3:1, with his negatives still in the teens.

Last, of those left undecided, Tom’s image rating stands higher than Garamendi’s.

Going down to the wire, Tom stands in a great position to win.

What a silly post. You really are a control freak , huh?

ROTFL...you forgot stalker as in "you are on the board posting, but couldn't take the time to ping your list."

I picture a scene out of one of those horror movies where the cops kick in the door to her home and there are charts and spreadsheets all over the walls indicating when we all logged on and off of FR and what we said about Arnold.

"I agree, I'm doing some digging right now, I don't think the state complies the info "

? Just how would the State compile that info ?

Except for the primaries there is nothing on my ballot to indicate my party affiliation.

Are you thinking exit polls ?

Great picture. That's the Tom McClintock I know.

Actually Tom's hair has gotten a lot whiter.

"You better watch your "6" for daning to critique anybody with an "R" behind their name around here! Expecially the Governor, or any other non-conservative "R" like Steve Poisoner, Brucie McPherson and some others who strongly support the platform challenged "New Majority" insurgency in the CAGOP!!!""

Yes, lest we be criticized by the "Just win, baby!" party cultists.

A strong and unapologetic candidate and a wealthy candidate. Our best candidate we ever put up against her was Bruce Herschensohn back in 1992 when she first ran, the two candidates since were Mr. Nice Guys (Matt Fong in '98; Bill Jones in '04). She ate them both for lunch.

I was reading through some past comments, and appreciate this earlier post of yours.

===

"Schwarzenegger and McClintock have struck a pragmatic deal as they run as a team for Governor and Lt. Governor. McClintock provides a reason for conservative Republicans to come to the polls and vote. Schwarzenegger forces the unions to throw their money away on Angelides while at the same time depressing the Democratic voter turnout.

The result is that Angelides is going down in flames, and McClintock has an excellent chance of defeating Garamendi. And if Tom is elected Lt. Governor, he'll become the odds-on favorite to be the Republican candidate for Governor in 2010 when Arnold is termed-out."

after some digging, No jackpot yet.

I found some abstracts on voter data including registration , checked the Library of Congress too.

The stuff I saw was more likely captured at precinct levels independent of the state and done by orgs paid to gather the data for filtering and sifting for research purposes.. not sure if access to voting records may have changed with legislation.. I know privacy rights legislation affected a lot of areas, maybe this too.

altho in the day and age of the computer, you would hope we might have ready access to data for all to see and get a real feel for what is out there in their neighborhood and state.

with so many independents these days,, exit polls may not be the best method.. especially now with absentee balloting so prevalent.

"not sure if access to voting records may have changed with legislation."

Hey Norm --- secret ballot.

Voting records will show THAT you turned in a ballot for a particular election cycle, but not who you marked it for, or even if you marked a particular race at all.

Understood, but aren't there studies that have been sanctioned and didn't look at who the voter was but did extract that kind of data.

heck , weren't there recent articles about how shopping and buying data is being used as part of targeting folks?
