Ohio voter ID law suspended

COLUMBUS - A federal judge on Thursday suspended Ohio's new voter identification law for early voting already under way, saying the state's 88 counties are inconsistently applying the rule for people filling out absentee ballots.

U.S. District Judge Algenon Marbley granted the temporary restraining order on behalf of labor and poverty groups who filed a lawsuit earlier in the week.

The ruling is in effect until Wednesday, when the judge will consider arguments from the same groups seeking to block application of the identification law for voters who go to the polls on Election Day.

There must be government assistance for those who claim they don't have the money for the ID. This is really outrageous. In 2008, unless we find the solution, Hillary will get 2-5 million illegal votes. (in addition to the usual dead and other fraudulent votes the Dems get)

Nice story. My creative writing teacher was like that, hated it at the time but learned some very valuable lessons from her..

Does anyone here know what the case ID is for the ruling regarding AZ's voting ID? I'm looking for the text and not finding it.

"[ "The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed - and hence clamorous to be led to safety - by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary." - H. L. Mencken ] I would say not imaginary -but- looking in the wrong direction.. -or- a distraction from the real problem(s).. A diversion... Diversions work politically for both parties.." ~ hosepipe

It only works with those who can be easily distracted into going sniffing off the trail (valid issues) as soon as the red herrings (irrelevancies) are dragged across it.

Knee-jerks who are in the habit of "reacting" to whatever they see and hear, either haven't developed critical thinking skills, or they allow their emotions to overrule their heads. It isn't possible to save such people from themselves.

Until they grow up, the only political party they will be emotionally able to relate to is the RAT Party.

Your post is a good place to post a link to the ruling by the Supreme Court itself.

Six months is "current"? People around here can move about 5 times in that interval. So can they vote from each address if they have the bills?

Ohio voter ID law suspended

This is no time to squabble over voting concerns. Let's put a hold on the law and take this up after the elections are over. /s

"I asked a lady when I went to early vote why we couldn't get a receipt or hard copy to show how we voted. She said it wasn't legal because we could sell our votes. I didn't understand how, though

You bring your receipt back to your "paymaster" and he pays you for your vote. You obviously never lived in Chicago.

I live in Ohio. Despite the bogus polls showing DemoRATS
leading, there is a grassroots effort that matches 2004 in GOTV.
Republicans have high hopes for a "surprise" GOP win.
I guess Democrats had the same feeling...hence, the Black robe interception.

Hopefully, this will only rally the GOP voters and candidates to fight even harder than the commie party.

A federal judge on Thursday suspended Ohio's new voter identification law for early voting already under way, saying the state's 88 counties are inconsistently applying the rule for people filling out absentee ballots.

Does that mean that any laws that are inconsistantly applied are somehow null and void on those grounds alone, and can be thrown out? I have some suggestions on which to toss first, if that's the case.

Negative Joe? How about reality Joe.

Of course maybe we should call you Overly Optimistic W Fan? :)

Seriously, the election will determine whether I'm more wrong than right and the same for you.

As for Tator's involvement, I enjoy his writings. Don't always agree with them, but they are educational and well thought out, a great read and always food for thought. But Tator needs to see my comments and then put them in perspective with his thoughts in independents.

Again, especially in the case of Secretary Blackwell, he's got all of his base motivated and champing at the bit. They can't wait for Blackwell to occupy Ohio's executive office. But I don't see him having much more than that. He's missing the moderates and the independents and the right leaning democrats.
