In Virginia, Corker Edges Webb (Ford, not Webb, Actual Headline!)
Political Wire ^ | October 25, 2006 | SurveyUSA

In Virginia's U.S. Senate race, a new SurveyUSA poll shows Bob Corker (R) leading Rep. Harold Ford Jr. (D), 49% to 46%, a result within the poll's margin of sampling error.

Key finding: "Corker leads by 15 among white voters. Webb leads by 62 points among black voters. Blacks made up 14% of likely voters in SurveyUSA's turnout model. If blacks vote in larger numbers, the Democrat benefits. If blacks vote in smaller numbers, the Republican benefits."

If Corker's that popular in Virginia, he must own Tennessee.

Can one man be Senator from two states at one time?

Corker, Allen, what's the difference. In the minds of this astute political analyst they're probably both indistinguishable crackers.

There is one other conclusion that can be drawn from this finding.

Webb's 62 pt lead among black voters translates to an 81-19 split. And 19% of the black vote is about twice what a GOP candidate normally receives.

Is this yet another sign of the 'Rats losing their grip on the black vote as more and more become middle class?

If so, this is a very bad omen for the 'Rats.

Looking at the Survey USA link, the breakdown for blacks is 77% for Webb, 15% for Allen, and 7% undecided. Allen also has 56% of the white vote.

It's actually 15% in this poll, but the margin of error for that subgroup is probably about 10%. Last few SurveyUSA polls had Allen with around 20% of the black vote.
He usually gets about 18%.

IIRC, a recent poll by their WaPo comrades gave Allen 21% of the black vote.

Obviously this Political Wire blogger's not a very good Corker cracker tracker.
