Claiming that The New York Times duped her into granting an interview for what turned out to be a drug company-funded advertising supplement, Jane Pauley has sued the newspaper for fraud. In a lawsuit filed Tuesday in U.S. District Court, the 55-year-old broadcaster charges that she believed that the Times interview was for a news article on mental health issues, but that the story (accompanied by a full-page photo) ran in an October 2005 "special advertising supplement" promoting psychotherapeutic drugs sold by Eli Lilly and other pharmaceutical firms. Pauley, who in September 2004 disclosed her battle with bipolar disorder, alleges that the Times "duped" her into lending her name to its advertising gambit, according to the lawsuit, an excerpt of which you'll find below. After going public about her bipolar disorder, the lawsuit notes, Pauley has worked with several mental health advocacy groups, including the National Mental Health Association. Pauley's lawsuit seeks unspecified damages from the newspaper and DeWitt Publishing, which helped arrange the advertorial

Replace the beer with Leinie's or Sam Adams
Leinie's I can't comment on, but, good as Sam Adams is, IMHO Michigan Brewing Company makes better.
Bipolar huh!
Guess tha explains Gary Trudeau.... She was obviously off her meds when she married him.
<< She's married to Garry Trudeau, the writer of the Doonesbury comic strip. That qualifies her as an assho!e. >>
That and being a bloody socialist.
I agree Greg is OK. I actually liked Tom Brokaw. There's a reason why he was #1 all these years. He wasn't boring and biased as Rather and Jennings.
You get what you pay for.
Right. Back when it was almost watchable.
Long Trail is good stuff and I stuck with it for a while but for my taster...Sam Adams hits the mark better. Samuel Adams Boston Ale. None better.
I think she's a fraud. What caused her bipolar disorder was getting shoved off her network and and finding out that no one else wanted her.
Jane Pauley and Tom Brokaw were the best morning talk news show team ever. They covered the Princess Diana wedding together in England. Jane got the shaft when they booted her for ditzy Deborah Norville (Who?). Deb weas younger and had whiter teeth.
Well, except for the fact that egomaniac Bryant Gumball was her co-host. And the 2nd fact that both of them are Socialists ...
I like it when RATS eat their own.
Well, that's a first, I just can't imagine the media spinning something to fit their own agenda.
Quick, warn Rush Limbaugh or any other conservative in public life about this new phenomenon. /S
Liberals really get wound up when they're treated just as they've treated others.
Major MANic-depression there!
That's not fair. There are people who are married to shrieking leftists that aren't themselves. For example, Mary Matalin and Melanie Morgan are married to liberals. It doesn't help that Pauley is a large MSM figure of the '70s and '80s, but she's never displayed signs of BDS like many of her NBC colleagues. Guilt-by-association is not applicable here, IMHO.
One of their closest personal friends was a bomber convicted of Killing cops.
"Nice"?
Everybody knows they lie, nobody wants to read news from known liars, the New York Times has to get money somehow to stay in business, here we have the result.
Probably won't be long before we have busts for illegal casino gambling inside the Times building, prostitution rings, and pictures of bat baby's on the front page.
The Old Gray Lady is dead and the corpse is decomposing.
