Russian President Vladimir Putin faced his nation today in a live multimedia appearance broadcast on Russian television and radio, the fifth of its kind since he came to office in 2000.

In other words - the press is just window dressing in Russia - stand there and look pretty but DO NOT report on what is going on.
And some people doubt who is killing journalists in Russia?
I followed the link and read Putin's comments and believe he acquitted himself rather well in the broadcast.
