Even on non political shows they are nailing Rush because all they know about him is he had a drug problem and he is conservative.

I disagree. Those that you are referring to will never be swayed in any case so it's not worth considering what they think - it's irrelevant and certainly not a reason to change one's viewpoint. What you are arguing is like the "what will the Arab street" Paul Krugman type line of thinking. It doesn't matter.
