Conservative talk show host accuses actor of faking Parkinson's disease
Updated: 42 minutes ago
Possibly worse than making fun of someone's disability is saying that it's imaginary. That is not to mock someone's body, but to challenge a person's guts, integrity, sanity.
To Rush Limbaugh on Monday, Michael J. Fox looked like a faker. The actor, who suffers from Parkinson's disease, has done a series of political ads supporting candidates who favor stem cell research, including Maryland Democrat Ben Cardin, who is running against Republican Michael Steele for the Senate seat being vacated by Paul Sarbanes.
"He is exaggerating the effects of the disease," Limbaugh told listeners. "He's moving all around and shaking and it's purely an act. . . . This is really shameless of Michael J. Fox. Either he didn't take his medication or he's acting."

And that is exactly the problem for those trying to attack Rush. Fox does TV shows and doesn't display the symptoms. Yet when he does a political add, voila, he displays the symtoms. Now, I have no doubt the symptoms are ever present, but he clearly has some control over them to able to go from Boston Legal to Missou McCaskill(sp?).
What Rush HAS done, which neither you or the MSM has bothered to touch on in the story, is point out the BLATENT LIE that is a political commercial that Fox has made.
The media is lying here. I listened to the show and he expressed great sympathy for MJF. You have fallen perfectly for the human shield trap. Cindy Sheehan says hello. Oh, so do the Jersey Girls.
Over-medicating is a temptation when you are shuffling, instead of walking. According to everything I learned at a Parkinson's Symposium last month, over-medicating is a prescription for spastic movements, and you can lose control over it.
He did on the same show. When he came back from the break, a lot of folks emailed him and called to let him know. Fox is not helping, instead of calling for more funds on the ASC treatments that are working, he's hoping in the hucksters knowing... it's not happening.
We need a conversation on what is working and how to get more.
He doesn't realize as I do...
He's fighting for the one thing to eliminate people like him and others. The people pushing him out there, will be the same ones fighting to give him death with dignity and say he doesn't benefit society hence he doesn't deserve life.
The American Groningen Protocol.
A sobering setback in stem-cell researchResearchers there have for the first time essentially cured rats
of a Parkinson's-like disease using human embryonic stem cells.
But 10 weeks into the trial,
they discovered brain tumours had begun to grow in every animal treated.
True enough. All I can say though is that it can be a difficult thing to avoid later in the disease. Back when I was still seeing a fair number of PD patients, several years ago, sinemet was still widely used. new onset patients might get 25/100 TID plus an extra one here or there if symptoms recurred but over time the dose would have to be escalated to achieve the same effect and then spread out into lots of little doses to avoid the "on" state. Dopamine agonists could be used to smooth things out and avoid some of the on state symptoms. Now the main centers are using dopamine agonists as first line treatments which delays the onset of "on" state issues but eventually even with those problems can occur.
"MJF said in his book when he is about to appear in public, say to testify about stem cell research or other, he stays off his meds so his parkinsons appears more severe."
Do you have a source for this? I could really use it...
After 18 years on medication, Fox probably has to choose between negative side effects like involuntary movements and the effects of the disease, including rigidity, immobility, difficulty swallowing, and so on. I think he already had one operation to diminish tremors.
Forget the left getting a gift... this bill has bigger implications.
I saw the video of Rush's show yesterday when he imitated Michael J. Fox's spastic movements.
I don't know.
I've also heard that Rush often spends his leisure time tripping up old ladies.
I know this to be the truth because I have a friend who told another friend who saw it on the internet.
Sorry I don't have a link. /sarc (if it's not obvious)
"I listened to the show and he expressed great sympathy for MJF."
Did Rush accuse Fox of "faking" in the commercial?
Rush said either he was acting or off his meds, because he'd never saw him such.
Um, just searched the transcript. Rush never said that.
Thank you,I was going to post the same thing!
*LMAO*
