'Non-Partisan' Matthews Condemns 'Melhman Cesspool' Over RNC Harold Ford Ad
MSNBC-Hardball/NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 10/24/2006 3:59:19 PM PDT by governsleastgovernsbest

Referring to an RNC ad as the "Mehlman cesspool," Chris Matthews was being non-partisan. Really - he told us so!

On this afternoon's Hardball, Matthews interviewed Rep. Harold Ford, Jr., Dem candidate for senator from Tennessee. The first topic up was an ad the RNC is currently running using actors to tweak Ford on his positions on a variety of issues, from taxes to gun control to North Korea. The ad also alludes to the fact that Ford attended a Playboy party at the Super Bowl in Jacksonville in 2005.

At the ad's end, an alluring woman saying she met Harold at a Playboy party whispers "Harold, call me!"

Democrats have been quick to cry that the use of a white woman is an insidious appeal to racism. Matthews wasted no time sounding the Dems' battle cry:

"Congressman, let's get out of the Ken Mehlman cesspool here for a minute. I really do, I think this is a nonpartisan assessment. The ad, I have seen it 10 times today, it has ethnic overtones, sexual overtones. I don't think Ken Mehlman was healthy accepting this kind of environment."

Three asides:

You can view the ad here and come to your own - non-partisan, of course - conclusions.

So O'Donnell looking at Ford like that is racist?

Only if she whispered "call me".

Maybe they can get Norah for the next commercial....

Lil' Harold has put out some pretty scathing commercials against Bob Corker. Kitchen hot, Harold. I love that part where the scuzzy looking thug type says, "Sure Harold Ford took money from porn producers. Snort. Doesn't everyone?"

"Ford opted for the high road.......claiming "I have too much joy in my heart to be mad."

Let's hope he reiterates that line during his concession speech.

He had to admit it...

When Neil Cavuto had on Soros a week or so ago...Cavuto asked him about his donation of 75,000 to Clark...and Soros was very flattering to the weazel.

I don't believe that Soros is a "democrat"...he is some anti-American something...but he isn't "American", IMHO.

But, he is calling the shots for the Dems because he BOUGHT the party in 2004....and when they couldn't pick a candidate to beat Bush....he TOLD them that he was gonna call the shots.

Now...no one will ever doubt that Clark would side with the "moneyman"...regardless of where his loyalty lies.

I think it's more a case of Jefferson having some dirt on a lot of Congress people.

I mean what else could it be? Do you think Jefferson wields that much sympathy from their African-American voter?

Jefferson himself made a threat to leave him alone....put money on it. Maybe he has pictures of Perlosi without makeup or something like that. ;^)

Now, Barnicle is preaching to the "white people" that by voting for Ford, Deval Patrick, and Osama Obama...WHITE people can FINALLY stand in a voting booth and be COLOR BLIND!!!

I do hope the 'white people' he was referring to were white democrats. Read an article (or heard a pundit say) that unfortunately democrats in Tennesse may find it difficult to pull the lever for a black candidate.

The fact Ford and his minions (Matthews et al) are whining about this ad shows it hits hard.

The Corker people, smartly (for a change since Corker is a moron and a light-weight) "denounced" the ad and asked the RNC to "pull it".

Good bait and switch there. Also, this comes after Ford barged into a Corker press conference and bullied him on, supposedly, the issues.

I hate Bob Corker but Ford is a tool and just another worthless Dem.

Figures! Did he ever show the clip of the spoiled brat crashing Corker's presser or bothered to ask him why?

You could be right...but, I know that Mollohan guy, that was the Ranking member of the ETHICS Committee, was only asked to give up his seat on the Ethics Committee when he came under investigation from the feds, also.

I do know that Nagin backed Jefferson for this election..but, I think I read where the Louisiana dem party isn't, or something like that.

I have been reading a thread by Fedora about all of the "backroom" type dealings that Kennedy and other Senators had behind Reagan's back to make deals with the SOVIETS!!!

If they will do things like that...no telling what they "find and hold" on each other to use against them.

I heard a sound bite tonight on the radio from Dick Morris AND John Zogby..and they both said that the DEMs might have "peaked too soon"..and they see the GOP making steady gains in the Cong. races.

By "peaked too soon"...I think they meant that whoever outed Foley's "scandal" let the news out TOO soon...and should have waited until the first of November...LOL

I said on another thread that there are only two people who would object to that innocuous ad.
  1. People who have issues with interracial couples.
  2. People who were just waiting to cry "racism" at the first opportunity.
With insane made-up nonissues like "macaca", racism accusations just do not resonate anymore.

I have lived in Colorado and Texas...and I have never even thought twice about voting for a black person..if he/she is qualified and Republican...

But, I keep reading that the "south" still has problems with electing black people...and that Ford will have a problem because of that...it makes me sad.

However...NOT for Ford...he needs to be defeated, badly....

But, it is WAY past time that any state have problems with electing black people, IMHO>

I'm in Tennessee too, and I don't base my vote on skin color or the skin color of someone's spouse or who they are dating.

Seems to me like they are trying to stereotype Tennesseans.

' I remember thinking, he's pretending he's got a fiance because being a family man, married and settled would appeal to voters. "

One of the cables tonight showed a Ford ad .
He was walking through " his house " and the refrigerator was full of children's drawings.
The clear implication was that Junior was a happily married family man with kids.
Junior is a bachelor who likes blondes.
And everyone in DC knows it.
