Julia Gorin: "It was a Busy Ramadan in Kosovo"

Remember that non-practicing, “nominally” Muslim province over which we bombed Christian children in their beds and dismantled multi-ethnic Yugoslavia? Yeah — Kosovo. Except get used to the trendier, Islamic/Clintonite pronunciation Kosova for when it officially becomes an Islamic state in a few months (with U.S. approval). Because that’s what we sold out our World War II Serbian allies for. And it gave us such a warm, fuzzy feeling to Balkanize the Balkans on behalf of Muslims who only hate us more now — that we’re still too verklemped to talk about it.

Here was the schedule for Kosovo’s highly Europeanized, non-Muslim Muslim Albanians during the holy fasting month of Ramadan.....

this is a joke right? this is so over the top, if you replaced some of the words here clinton with bush and iraq with kosovo and so on, this could be something posted on DU.

serbs might have been allies, but milosovic was a communist and that is alone was enough to deserve what he got. While we are talking about albanians(kosovo or otherwise), there are 120 albanian troops currently in iraq and ZERO serbs.

Well, Julia Gorin is a comic - who better to try and explain the Serbian viewpoint?

1) See number 8.

2) Our PC & self serving policies would not allow any Serb participation - they're eevil don'cha know!
(Besides, I doubt helping us out was high on their priorities list at the time)

3) We've been pals with recovering communists across the globe - it's the non-recovering socialists in the USA that worry me.

"there are 120 albanian troops currently in iraq"

They owe us a hell of a lot more than that for what we've done for them!

Milosevic may have "deserved what he got", but Serb civilians did not -- and we certainly didn't deserve Clinton focusing on a "genocide of Kosovars" that never happened and NATO spending billions going after Milosevic for it, while Clinton ignored Osama bin Laden who was a real threat to us!

No, you couldn't "write this about Bush & Iraq", because Iraq has always been Muslim. Kosovo is part of Serbia -- a predominantly Christian country & Albanians were not even a majority in Kosovo before WWII. Albanians took over by outbreeding the Serbs and by bullying the Serb population into leaving Kosovo -- much as they are still doing today. And Kosovo Albanians have gotten more and more radicalized as Muslims since the late 90's.

We said that our aim was "a multi-ethnic Kosovo" and what we got was Albanians doing and "ethnic cleansing" of anyone and anything that was not Albanian. This is not what we signed on for!

Well, actually there are scores of Serbs in Iraq, in privete security that is, and majority of them were commandos during defence of Serbia against Albanian insurgency. Also Serbia is to Sent millitary to Lebenon and Afghanistan.

Serbian army medics to work in Afghanistan

OSLO, Norway, Sept. 20 (UPI) -- Serbia's Defense minister says a military medical team, as part of Norway's contingent, will be sent to Afghanistan to join NATO-led forces.

Defense Minister Zoran Stankovic, in Oslo for talks with Norwegian leaders, worked out a plan for the Serbian team of 30 physicians to leave for Afghanistan by the end of September, the Serbian news agency Beta reported Wednesday.

Stankovic said the Parliament in Belgrade must first approve the team's departure.

Serbia, which is seeking to become a member of NATO's Partnership for Peace program in the near future, would use the Norwegian contingent to send the team to Afghanistan.

Oh yes, Kosovo Albanians are such "friends to our US troops"!

If I were fighting next to Albanians in Iraq, I wouldn't turn my back on them!

And Soros-funded feminist-anti-war-anti-millitary organisation is arguing AGAINST Aerbia military aiding USA:

In this context, there exists the question of the sending of Serbia and Montenegro’s military troops to Afghanistan. This issue has been present since the summer of 2003, during a visit to the US in which Serbian Prime Minister Z. Zivkovic offered to contribute troops to the military operation in Afghanistan. This decision raised many questions, such as the following: Who makes such a decision? Under whose command would troops go to Afghanistan? Would members of paramilitary troops who killed people in Kosovo and Bosnia be eligible to serve? Who would finance these troops? Upon being informed that the Federation of Serbia and Montenegro must pay 100,000 dollars for each soldier sent for a six-month period, Women in Black asked the above questions of the relevant organs but never received a response.

Furthermore, there are numerous problems with the conditions that would be necessary in order to meet the requirements for sending troops to Afghanistan. For example, the US demands the extradition of all accused war criminals to The Hague Tribunal, but at the same time does not accept the authority of the International Criminal Court. The US also demands that the majority of countries in the area of ex-Yugoslavia sign bilateral agreement with them to assure the non-extradition of American citizens to the International Criminal Court; applying a principle of selective justice and the global non-punishment of crimes. Upon harsh criticism and contestation, the government maintained that the sending of such troops is possible only with UN approval, and such a decision must be taken jointly by the highest Council of Defense, the Parliament of the Federation of Serbia and Montenegro, etc. The Parliament did not reach any concrete solution concerning this matter, but the various political parties in Serbia have voiced their reactions. A number of political parties consider the contribution of troops to such foreign missions to be important for the integration of Serbia and Montenegro with the international community, but only under the condition of UN approval. Meanwhile, patriotic, and in fact, chauvinistic, ultra-nationalistic parties are against the sending of such troops, considering that such troops should rather be sent to Kosovo to fight against Albanian citizens. However, the greatest problem for them is the lack the opportunity to gain money with the killing of Afghani citizens, as opposed to the chances that exist for financial gain from the trafficking of drugs in Kosovo.

The civil society has mostly remained silent on this question; some non-governmental organizations have not commented due to the fear of being categorized along with the ultra-nationalistic parties.
