I just heard Shep Smith accuse Bush of "Cutting and Running from Stay the Course". He repeated it several times.... like he was challenging the administration to deny it. I didn't hear him say that others were saying it, he was saying it like he was saying it.
(Excerpt) Read more at Foxnews.com ...
Awaiting confirmation of the statement before commenting and bashing Shep.
The administration didn't say we'd be out of Iraq in 12-18 months, just that they want the Iraqis to be largely in charge of security by then with our forces playing back up. That's very doable. 75% of the Iraqi's training and preparation to do just that is already largely complete. "Stay the course" never meant not changing tactics. It meant not retreating from Iraq and in none of this do I see any intention to flee Iraq ala the Democrats.
Me too. I can't believe Shep would say that.
To be honest, I never liked "stay the course." I prefer something akin to "do whatever it takes," which could mean "secure the Kurds and get the hell out if the muslims, Shia and Sunni alike, are simply hell-bent on slaughtering each other wholesale."
Fox news is more and more like CNN.
Fox is just as much 5th columnist as the other networks. There are a few good conservatives like Hannidy and Cavutto, but mostly they're RATS.
Seems like a bunch of stupid word games and semantics.
The definition of victory has never changed and we wont live until then.
FWIW, I don't know if it was Shep that I saw last night, but FOX was showing clips of the President using the term.
I can, Shep is insufferable.
live = leave
I don't know, been on Drudge Report all day that they want to stop using stay the course and move to a more flexible one-liner.
I heard the same thing...
Shep was reporting that the Bush Admin is saying that their tactics are flexible..(Tony Snow said yesterday that they changed the phrase because 'staying the course' is not descriptive of the flexiblity they use)...
After talking about the way the WH is now describing it...
Shep said whay was posted...and like W04Man...I about jumped out of my chair at not only his statement, but the tone of his voice...just like a dem strategist would say it.
He is now saying Dems don't have a plan. I lost any respect I had for him during Katrina.
Wow. He sure is a witty guy. Wonder if he thought that up all by himself.
Shep must have his application in over at CNN or MSNBC.
Brit Hume is another GREAT conservative voice.
Shep is always bragging about he is not about opinion, just delivering the news.
Ol' Shep should go have a menage a trois with Olbermann and Anderson Cooper! Three of a kind!
