Actor Fox stars in campaign ad for Doyle
A television ad for Democratic Governor Jim Doyle is the latest done by actor Michael J. Fox, who's backing candidates across the country who support embryonic stem cell research.
Fox has Parkinson's disease and has recorded other ads on behalf of candidates supporting the research. The issue may have more potency here because University of Wisconsin scientists have been pioneers in the field.
Fox speaks directly into the camera, with his Parkinson tremors evident, is asking voters to re-elect Doyle. Fox says Doyle's Republican opponent, Mark Green, has stood in the way of research that could lead to cures and new jobs.
Congressman Green has voted against expanding federal funding for the research because days-old human embryos are destroyed to obtain the cells.
Fox has been politically active for Democratic causes. He campaigned for John Kerry in the 2004 presidential race and lobbied Congress to lift President Bush's restrictions on funding for stem cell research.
Ironically, Wisconsin benefits quite well from the current federal situation, as it's the rights holder to many of the approved lines of stem cells.
I do also, and Michael J. Fox's distortions do not help.
Counter Ad To Michael J. Fox running in Missouri tomorrow night; stars Jim Caviezel of 'The Passion of Christ' and Cardinals pitcher Jeff Suppan, who pitches Game 4 of World Series...
Yes, but "Diamond Jim" Doyle needs to keep additional "extortable income streams" open for the future. *Rolleyes*
Luckily, after November 7th, that will no longer be a problem for us in Wisconsin, Right? :)
At the very least, we'll keep the WI House and Senate, and we'll also have J.B. Van Hollen in charge as Attorney General, investigting and prosecuting that slimeball Doyle!
He's really making the rounds, isn't he? They did a segment at the opening of Bill O'Reilly and he was all over this defending MJF and damning Rush Limbaugh until the guest he had on set OR straight on how MJF is outright lying in these ads and that Rush had told his audience that MJF purposely doesn't take his drugs when he's lobbying for the disease.
Senate = Assembly.
I know what you mean I am 21 and am surprised at how ignorant people my age are about things that happened from 1990 on back.
All this talk about Fox is doing just what the Dems want...this is a no win argument for our side...the guy is ill...he looked so sick in that commercial. Instead of debating the real issue, we look like morons attacking Fox. Good going Republicans!
Q Senator Kerry, thousands of people have already been cured or treated by the use of adult stem cells, or umbilical chord stem cells. However, no one was been cured by using embryonic stem cells. Wouldn't it be wise to use stem cells obtained without the destruction of an embryo.(It was at this point -- the end of his "keeps me going" speech -- that it is seared, SEARED in my memory that sKerry started doing the "Funky Chicken" dance; others did not see it the same way. Video may be here, but I have pokey dialup.)
SENATOR KERRY: You know, Elizabeth, I really respect your -- the feeling that's in your question. I understand it. I know the morality that's prompting that question, and I respect it enormously. But like Nancy Reagan and so many other people -- you know, I was at a forum with Michael J. Fox the other day in New Hampshire, who's suffering from Parkinson's. And he wants us to do stem cell -- embryonic stem cell. And this fellow stood up and he was quivering, his whole body was shaking from the nerve disease, the muscular disease that he had, and he said to me and to the whole hall, he said, you know, don't take away my hope because my hope is what keeps me going. Chris Reeve is a friend of mine. Chris Reeve exercises every single day to keep those muscles alive for the day when he believes he can walk again -- and I want him to walk again.
MJF is being used by the dims, whether he admits this or not. He just may be ignorant. We already know al-Kerry wouldn't admit it. "Bingo" Jim Doyle?
NOT IN MY NAME!
Already posted. Do a search on "Fox."
Now why should he be immune from criticism. He has basically lied in these commercials with his saying that Republicans are against stem cell research, when it is embryonic stem cell research.
Exposing his lies and his past playing up of Parkinson's by not taking his medication is example enough for me that MJF has joined the Barbara Streisand Hollywood liberals.
Exactly.
"MJF is being used by the dims, whether he admits this or not."
Exactly.
