The mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, today said the row over whether Muslims should wear veils had parallels with the hounding of Jews in Nazi Germany.
Speaking at the launch of the first ever report into Muslims living in London, Mr Livingstone said much of the ongoing debate about Muslim dress implied the community "was somehow at fault" for being at the centre of the storm....
It is quite clear that the problems we have in Britain are not because Muslims wish to be separate ... I think the entire debate has been totally lopsided as though Muslims were somehow at fault for this," Mr Livingstone said.
"That echoes very much the demonology of Nazi Germany when Hitler said it was the Jews' fault and the problems were brought upon themselves. There is a faint echo of that in a lot of the rubbish we have been seeing in the media recently."
...He also welcomed this weekend's inaugural celebrations of Eid, one of the most auspicious days in the Muslim calendar, in Trafalgar Square. It is hoped the celebrations will become a regular fixture in the capital like Chinese new year and Diwali.
Last week, Mr Livingstone won his high court appeal against a month-long suspension for likening a Jewish reporter to a Nazi concentration camp guard.

Wacky "Red Ken" strikes again.

Eid celebrations in Trafalgar Square!? Admiral Nelson and Churchill must be spinning in their graves.

What a splendid point. As we all know, the jews were flying planes into buildings and blowing themselves up in public squares. And as we all know, the US is planning to set up death camps for Muslims.

They aren't being demonized; they are demons.

What good things have the Muslims done lately?

"had parallels with the hounding of Jews in Nazi Germany."
Gee, I don't remember Jews flying planes into buildings killing thousands or blowing themselves up to kill the innocent. Perhaps if mooslems joined the 21st century instead of trying to destroy it, they might be treated differently.

Great- another terror coddler attacking those who fight against terrorism. Just what the world needs- This dude is blind to the fact that Muslim extremists are taking over countries by force and spreading their hate through fear- this fella is so scared to confront terrorism that he can't bring himself to call terrorists animals. He villifies those hwo confront terrorism by accusing htem of attacking 'all Muslims'- We're not attacking all Muslims- just the terrorists & for him to suggest otherwise is deceitful and despicable!!! So sick of these coward terror coddlers attackign others because they are to afraid to confront a growing and ver6y real threat.

Ordinarily I'd treat anything Red Ken has to say with disdain. But 'muslims are being demonized'? Is this a complaint or simply a statement? Why shouldn't they be demonized? They act like demons!

Eid celebrations in Trafalgar Square!? IIRC, Iftar(Eid celebrations) dinners have been held in the White House.
Welcome to reality!

"That echoes very much the demonology of Nazi Germany when Hitler said it was the Jews' fault and the problems were brought upon themselves. There is a faint echo of that in a lot of the rubbish we have been seeing in the media recently." A more apt comparison from the 30s and 40s would be to compare the Muslims to the Germans instead of the Jews. Would anyone argue against the fact that the war was the Germans' fault and they brought the destruction of Germany upon themselves?

The irony! Whenever someone compares muslims being under scrutiny with the holocaust, they seem to completely ignore who poses the biggest current threat against the jews...
