Christine is a Canadian, Amir a Bangladesh-born American and Hardeep a Sikh from the US. What binds them is their desperation to get freedom from those extra pounds through much cheaper surgery in Indian metros.
They do not want to be anorexic but are desperate nevertheless to rid themselves of their obesity and lead a better life.
Obese people across the world are flooding the email box of noted laparoscopic surgeons such as B. Ramana in Kolkata for dates to undergo operations. Kolkata is considered one of the emerging medical tourism destinations in India.
"I am looking for a hospital that does good quality, affordable laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery. Please tell me if this is possible in your hospital," asks Christine.
Amir says: "I have minor diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol and I weigh 360 lbs. I have to urinate three to five times at night. I wake up in the middle of the night due to breathlessness. My family has a history of obesity."
Said Ramana: "There is a previously unrecognised need for morbidly obese patients to undergo surgery to reduce weight. We call it bariatric surgery and it is the only proven way to achieve major weigh loss and sustain it.
"Because there is a long queue for such operations abroad and because it is far economical here, we are flooded with queries from abroad for operation dates in India."
He says the international demand for such surgery was very high, adding that he received email and telephonic enquiries every other day. "Many of these patients expect a package deal with a vacation and pick up.

The best cure for obesity is to burn more calories than you consume. Works every time.
India also has an excellent weight loss program known as CHOLERA.

Does this mean that you can stuff your face as much as you want, while moving your body no more than a garden snail, and somebody else will become a fat slob?

Actually, merely driving around the country will likely result in extreme weight loss due to accelerated heart rate and ensuing panic attacks and loss of appetite. Every road there is the equivalent of driving in the Indianapolis 500, but with three lanes of traffic going in both directions at alternating times. One of the most harrowing experiences of my life (and I've been to over 30 countries).
A buddy of mine was always ridiculously overweight - until he got a date to report to the police academy. He lost 105 pounds in about 6 months. I didn't recognize him. He just needed that last bit of motivation to push himself away from the table, start running, and start lifting.
i used to work for an F500 company that wouldn't let anybody drive in India, China and a couple other third world countries cause you presented such a prime target for an accident. many of these people will gladly step out in front of your car and lose a leg knowing full well they will sue your company for the life long care and feeding of their entire extended family and win.
Well only if you catch one of the many bacteria found in it. Otherwise Indian water is quite high in calories and protein.
Just the thought of that is a serious weight-loss program!
I guess the flight in question is a C-4; it can carry a few tanks or 100 weight challenged, responsibility shirking, Clintonistas. Meals served every 10 minutes. 600 cans of coke for each passenger. Dessert follows each meal and also immediately precedes the next serving of a full meal, it's all non-stop, the flight also.
Here's a good diet: Red hot curry and subsequent diarrhea.
It works.
