My thinking exactly. I think the biggest problem with the American people is that they really don't pay attention to what's going on in the world, except for whatever affects them personally at that moment. So, they are easy prey for the media.

You are right. But the sad thing is, most of these people who are such easy prey for media blitzes about the "disaster" in Iraq, aren't even affected one way or the other by what's happening in Iraq, personally or otherwise. To most of the people throwing up their hands, Iraq is basically just an unpleasant TV show they want cancelled. It's not affecting them personally, yet they whine and whine about it as if it is. That's what's galling.
