CNN Blasted, Praised Over Sniper Video(Despicable & Treasonous!)
SAN DIEGO UNION-TRIBUNE ^ | October 21, 2006 | Steve Schmidt

CNN's decision to air a video showing snipers targeting U.S. troops in Iraq provoked both rage and praise yesterday, with some calling it a brave move by the cable network and others labeling it a propaganda coup for terrorists.

“This is nothing short of a terrorist snuff film,” said Rep. Brian Bilbray, R-Carlsbad. “I think CNN should recognize it made a terrible mistake and pull it.” Bilbray, Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Alpine, and Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Vista, sent a letter to Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld asking him to yank any CNN reporters embedded with U.S. troops in Iraq.

“They don't deserve to be with American Marines and soldiers,” said Hunter, chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, at a news conference he and Bilbray held yesterday in downtown San Diego. CNN “can't decide which side they're on.”

Jeffrey Dvorkin, executive director of the Committee of Concerned Journalists in Washington, said CNN “did an important journalistic job in reporting this.”

“It's enormously important that Americans have a very clear sense of what our military is going through in Iraq,” Dvorkin said. “It's one of the better pieces of war reportage I've ever seen.”

A Defense Department spokesman yesterday declined to comment on the issue.

The cable channel began airing portions of the chilling video Wednesday night on “Anderson Cooper 360,” after what a network official described as an intense internal discussion over its news value.

“Whether or not you agree with us in this case, our goal, as always, is to present the unvarnished truth as best we can,” wrote CNN producer David Doss in a blog entry about the taped footage, which was still available on CNN.com last night.

Congressman Duncan Hunter was interviewed on the Rick Roberts radio show in San Diego this a.m. and Hunter stated that he was writing a letter to Don Rumsfield requesting that all CNN embedded reporters be removed from American military units.

As a former combat United States Marine, I find CNN's actions despicable and treasonous.

CNN is doing a great job of helping Osama Bin Laden and the Iranian Insurgents. CNN's propaganda on their behalf has been excellent.

Of course it is treason. Why are these sneaking bastards allowed access to military units? Ans: The rAT party mouthpiece has a vested interest in losing the war.

I would go one step further and shoot any CNN reporter in the battle area.

It wouldn't be hard to arrange a video of insurgents killing a CNN reporter. If that happened, would Dvorkin feel the same way?

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Nice thought but according to what I've read lately, CNN doesn't have any embedded reporters. None of them have left the Green Zone in weeks.

Disgusting. And that comment by Dvorkin ... dripping with used food! The story could have been told and when it came time to show the video, Cooper could have said "out of respect to the families of our soldiers, we will not show this propaganda video." No, they had to go for the ratings and keep the moonbat base happy.

Er...if by "reportage" you mean, 'airing exactly what the enemy has sent you.' What reportage???

CNN is absolutely disgusting.

Neal Gabler on FOX News Watch defended CNN by saying it's news. It happened; therefore, it should be covered.

So are partial birth abortions, and at much greater frequency.

Shame on them. CNN should remember that paybacks are a bitch.

Mistakes are accidents, what CNN did was quite intentional. The islamofacist scum shot this American warrior, but CNN is murdering him over and over and over with their airing of this video. CNN are the living proof that there is no low that some human beings won't sink to for personal gain or revenge.

Unfortunately CNN still has terrorists on the payroll so pulling the embedded reporters won't change a thing.

“Whether or not you agree with us in this case, our goal, as always, is to present the unvarnished truth as best we can,” wrote CNN producer David Doss

Yes... their goal AS ALWAYS is to present the unvarnished truth...

Is that why they deemed that footage of people jumping to their deaths from the WTC on 9-11 was *too upsetting* for people to see??? Is that why they made the choice not to show footage of the towers coming down after 9-11??? Or not to show terrorists sawing off the heads of Americans??? Or not to show Americans who have been burned beyond recognition hanging from a bridge in Iraq??? THOSE things were too upsetting for the delicate American mind... but if terrorist snipers are shooting at American soldiers, why THAT'S NEWS!!! Too important for the American people to miss... So what if some mother or wife sees her son or husband shot to death before their eyes!!! Too bad...

I would say rather that they varnish lies and call them the truth... whatever it takes to further the leftist agenda.

Wiping the spit off my face and descending from my soap box....

"Jeffrey Dvorkin, executive director of the Committee of Concerned Journalists in Washington, said “It's one of the better pieces of war reportage I've ever seen.”

That would depend on what side of the war you're on, Jeffery.
