Tonight State Department official Alberto Fernandez apologized for his outrageous statements to Al Jazeera televisionbut the damage is done: Envoy Sorry for Iraq Stupidity Comment :

(AP) A senior U.S. diplomat apologized Sunday night for saying U.S. policy in Iraq displayed arrogance and stupidity.
A day after his remarks in an interview were broadcast by the pan-Arab satellite channel Al-Jazeera, Alberto Fernandez issued a written apology through the State Department press office.
Upon reading the transcript of my appearance on Al-Jazeera, I realized that I seriously misspoke by using the phrase there has been arrogance and stupidity by the U.S. in Iraq, said Fernandez, director of public diplomacy in States Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs.
This represents neither my views nor those of the State Department, Fernandez added. I apologize.

"This represents neither my views nor those of the State Department, Fernandez added. Then why did he make the statement in the first place, and in so far as the State Department, it's always been a nest of sellouts.
THis idiot should be fired immediately. Where do they find such idiots to hold down six figure jobs?
I cannot believe the stupidity and arrogance of his remarks.. and to think this guy is a diplomat... he should resign before he's fired.

Aug. 28, 2006 - Alberto Fernandez says he can't keep his mouth shut. "I'm Cuban," he says. "We can't close our big mouths. Cubans love to talk, love to argue, love to engage in repartee."

Hello Dr Rice? Today is Monday. He should be in the unemployment line already.
He should be fired just for talking to Al-Jazeera.
" Where do they find such idiots to hold down six figure jobs?"
My guess : a Clinton appointee ?
Translation: These are my views, but my bosses have my 'nads in a vise right now and I'm this close to paying off my mortgage...
As much as one might think that right off the start, I would not be the least bit surprised if this guy turns out to be a Bush appointee.
Condi needs to kick this nut to the curb.

Michelle's link to the State Department.
I think Schwarzenegger said something similar and the liberal media pounced on the opportunity to put his teat in the wringer for it.
He said it in Arabic, figuring it would never be translated and come back to bite him.
I'd like to see him reaminated.
From the Stated apartment.
Conni Rice appointed this person to this position and this is not the first time he has done this. He is constantly giving Al-Jazeera ammo to hit us with propaganda. I don't why Conni doesn't fire him.
Here's a question: What relation did al-Fernandez's use of "stupidity" have to Muhammad's use of the same word?

What were the previous incidents?
Not only should he resign, but so should Karen Hughes - Under Secretary of State for Public Diplomacy and Public Affairs. She oversees Educational and Cultural Affairs, Public Affairs, and International Information Programs, and participates in foreign policy development.
She was tasked by Bush to lead efforts promoting America's values and confront ideological support for terrorism around the world.
If she can't get her people in line with the one message of the US, she should go - along with al-Fernadez
Most people in government jobs are not appointed by administrations, they are regular folks who live in and around DC and they applied for the job after reading an ad in the paper. Some of them have been working in government since the last days of the Johnson administration and they've worked their way up the career ladder. It would be more accurate to say that they are liberals who happen to have a government job.
Nobody gets fired in Washington.
