In a press conference Sunday, Republican 47th District congressional candidate Tan Nguyen said he will not abandon his bid for a seat in Congress.
Agents raided Nguyen's campaign offices last week in connection with a probe into a letter sent to Hispanic voters claiming it is illegal for immigrants to vote.
Nguyen said he has done nothing illegal and did not send the letter.
A criminal investigation is under way, NBC4 reported.
An Orange County Republican party official called on Nguyen Thursday to withdraw from his race against Rep. Loretta Sanchez, D-Garden Grove, because of the letter.
I applaud him for telling the illegals the truth, however if we won't arrest them and throw them out for being illegal how will they be arrested for voter fraud?
It's my understanding that the letter did NOT say it was against the law for "illegal" immigrants to vote but all immigrants, even those here legally, to vote.
"...a probe into a letter sent to Hispanic voters claiming it is illegal for immigrants to vote."
I DOUBT if it said that. It probably said it is illegal for illegal immigrants or aliens to vote, since NBC chose to describe what it said rather than quote it honestly. But, it'll give Sanchez a boost, which is the point of the lefty hype.
I'm confused. How can a criminal investigation take place for a letter sent that correctly informs voters that immigrants are not allowed to vote?
They won't be : )
I thought you had to be an American Citizen to vote?
Are you saying that immigrants (non-citizens) are allowed to vote???
Look for AG Gonzales to indict him .
NO!!! I'm not saying that. I am very, very, very ANTI-illegal immigrant.
I'm just saying that the letter said it was illegal for immigrants to vote, even the ones here legally.
I definitely do not believe illegal aliens should be allowed to vote. Heck, I don't even believe uninformed, politically dumb Americans should vote.
WHAT PART OF ILLEGAL, DO THEY NOT UNDERSTAND....Oh, Sorry....
Why? Can you explain how it is legally possible to indict someone when they haven't broken any laws?
For that matter the letter was attempting to inform people about our laws so they wouldn't break them.
Last I was aware of even legal immigrants (non-citizens) are not permitted to vote in our elections.
Tan Nguyen: "No Way In Hell Am I Gonna Withdraw"
"Let me begin by answering all the political figures, including the Chairman of the Republican Party of Orange County, Scott Baugh, and their ridiculous call for my withdrawal. I am innocent, and there is no way in hell I am gonna withdraw. I'm not gonna quit this race, and I'm gonna win this race."
I don't think the letter I read was all that wrong.
You can be a legal immigrant and not an official citizen of the USA. Am I wrong? If I'm just ignorant on this subject for some unknown reason than please set the record straight. XD
Though I'm fairly sure I'm correct. I knew a German woman who was not a citizen who was here as a legal immigrant. So I believe legal immigrant and sworn citizen are two different things.
Someone posted a copy of the letter on another thread and it mentioned illegals were not to vote if I remember right.
At the news conference, an attorney for Tan's campaign - a former US Attorney for Southern California -- said the letter was first written in English, and it said only that non-citizen residents, and illegal aliens, can't vote. It was then given to a "respected" Spanish translator, who translated "non citizen resident aliens" as "immigrado" -- which, according to the attorney, is the word Latinos in the US use for resident aliens.
"Why? Can you explain how it is legally possible to indict someone when they haven't broken any laws? "
Then why did they ransack the poor guy's house, and cart off his personal property?
Yes, the agents of a Democrat attorney general ransack his house. That's all the evidence we need that a crime has been committed. [not]
