Without 'Rodham,' Hillary Sinks

It sounds silly, but when "Hillary Clinton" is matched up against Sen. John McCain in a hypothetical presidential election, she loses by a single percentage point. But if pollsters refer to her as "Hillary Rodham Clinton," she trounces the Arizona Republican by 7 percentage points.

According to an Opinion Research Corp poll conducted for CNN, which asked 506 adult Americans whom they preferred among potential 2008 presidential candidates, they chose Hillary Rodham Clinton to McCain by a 51 percent to 44 percent. But when the "Rodham" name was dropped, McCain had a 1 percentage point advantage, 48 percent to 47 percent.

It doesn't quite work if her opponent is former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Even though Clinton has an advantage over Giuliani with or without her maiden name, using "Rodham" tightens the race. Asked if they prefer "Hillary Clinton" or Giuliani, Clinton had a 4 percentage point advantage, 50 percent to 46 percent. But add "Rodham" and Clinton's edge over the former NYC mayor drops to 1 percentage point, 48 percent to 47 percent.

Keating Holland, CNN's polling director, said that the results are meaningless because the election is still two years away and no poll can accurately predict a race that far in advance. Moreover Clinton has always appeared on the ballot using her middle name, and there is no sign that she intends to abandon it in future elections.

The results are consistent with earlier testing that indicated Clinton's favorability rose when her maiden name was included in the question, Holland added.

Hillary Rodham Clinton. Yep. The name does SOUND presidential. Remember that Bill's Daddy's last name was Blythe and Bill's name was changed at some point to William Jefferson Blythe. Hillary Rodham Blythe doesn't sound so presidential does it? - RODham is a masculine sounding name, CLINTON is a masculine, strong sounding name, and, of course, Hillary is also a zaftig sounding name with just a pinch of feminity. Goes to show, you can call a skunk a rose, and he still stinks. - The Blythes (Clintons) have it all contrived, Hillary is being "Thatcherized", their fingers are in the wind - and it's an alarming farce. Pray and ask God to spare us any more of the blythe Clintons, please.

. . that should read Bill's name was changed at some point to Clinton. I have to wonder if there is really a legal document on that. If not, I'm gonna start calling them both "Blythe". Does anybody know or is it "confidential"?

Not only is the poll meaningless, but I would be loathe to give any credence to a poll conducted and reported by CNN.

This "result" is meaningless without knowing the margin of error of the two surveys.

Snore. Neither puffed name will be the GOP nominee. McCain and Giuliani will never get through the primaries. And you can call Hillary "Free Money Clinton," but it won't matter--every leftist male is completely going to spike her when he gets into the voting booth. Even those sackless wonders know what four years of Hillary would do for men (think untermenschen).

Just wanted to post this link to a viable alternative to McCain or Guilliani since the MSM is bent on brainwashing us that we only have liberal Republicans to choose from.

Petition for Mark Sanford
http://www.petitiononline.com/msan2008/petition.html

I know some of you will criticize saying that we haven't even voted for 2006 yet but from what I've heard about party politics right now is the opportune time since voters and the party people are paying attention right now.

Also for someone who isn't well known they need an early start out of the gate!

You can put lipstick on a pig, and it's still a pig. And just because a kitten's in the oven, that don't make it a biscuit!

I got a million of em!

Is it just me, or does the "rodham" effect go the opposite direction against Giuliani. If so, what is the use of the headline. What is the use of the article? Why am I writing this post?

It either proves Dem voters are stupid, or polls are BS, or both.

This ridiculous hypothesis only condludes how stupid the people were who were sampled.

My theory is that there are 3,000 to 4,000 people left in the US without caller ID. Most are Democrats and will answer the phone when a pollster calls. When the name Rodham was used, many may have thought of her dear roly-poly brother who has a better image than she does.

....On the other hand, they really are that stupid.

Is there any history buffs here? Back in '92 when hillary became co-prez, she and her socialist cronies wanted to video tape every home in america, inside and out, to see what they now OWNED. The only reason they didn't do it was because of the MAGNITUDE of the project, not the sick MENTALITY that such thinking represents. Then there was the "nurse hillary" episode, socialized medicine that would have totally destroyed our wonderful system. Why doesn't anyone have a website that documents and lists the REAL hillary? It's all right there in the history books....
