Great post. Kudos to Michelle Malkin, and to you for finding the quotations.
[Malkin]Every last bit of that "vicious" criticism was deserved. Stop making excuses. It's Bush hatred that led to the reckless publication of the story. It's journalistic hubris that prevents the rest of Calame's colleagues from admitting the truth.
Amen, amen! Kudos, too to the good Captain's Quarters blog which you quoted in extenso. I found them last month, and it's a very good weblog.

I'm pleased and surprised to find another Strother Martin fan in FR, and one who knows to esteem that great scene in
True Grit. I thought the Colonel's line on his and Mattie's second meeting is a movie classic. The one that goes (I paraphrase):
Col. Stonehill: "I heard this morning that a girl had fallen head-first into a well on the _______ Road. I had thought that it might be you."
Mattie Ross: "......no?"</clueless>

In German, "lightning" is "blitz." As in "blitz krieg." Coincidence? Not sure what his old man had in mind -- maybe his own physiology (bragging, maybe?).
Surely no more a "coincidence", though, than your having a Larry Niven handle. (Congratulations on your good taste -- that's twice in one day. First Larry Niven, then Strother Martin. You're impressing me.)

It is funny how I was in the Jury selection stage on a Civil case where a big Blond beefy looking middle aged man was suing this Bar in Broward that had a bucking Bronco ride. It seems he got drunk and then tried to ride the Bucking Bronco, and had his privates injured. Everything was going fine in the questioning of the potential jurors until the Defense Attorney asked me a pointed question. He said " If you were in this situation whereas you had been drinking heavily, you would go ahead and try to ride a mechanical Bucking Bronco, wouldn't you?" I answered back in disbelief "what do you think I am crazy?" With that answer several of the potential Jurors burst out laughing, and we were all let go because the Doofus blond guy's Attorney knew we thought it was foolish to ride a mechanical Bull drunk and expect someone else to pay the price to fix his groin. I knew the Judge on the case long before he was a Judge. He could hardly contain himself at the entire matter. The blond doofus had a red face the entire time we were there.LOL!

WOW! A VERY BUSY WEEK!
It was VERY tough this week to judge. I hope you all take the time to check out the posts by our top ten this week. They truly have given us a lot to think about and much to be proud of!
GOD BLESS FREE REPUBLIC! and GOD BLESS AMERICA!
And now for the top 10!
The Top 10!!
#10: Yomin Postelnik-You are a breath of fresh air! Here is the last line of post #398 but ya'll REALLY MUST read the whole thing!
What's the matter with GOP strategists??
I think I'm in love!
#9: gov_bean_ counter-The BEST one-liner of hte day! Post #252
The only difference between Obama and Osama is the bs.
#8: SkyPilot -Thank you for giving us the TRUTH on "Hussein" Obama, and exposing his trickery! Post #7
Ah yes, the Liberal Messiah!
Will someone ask him why he didn't tell the truth about attending a Muslim school in Jakarta until he was cornered by the facts? He also was caught trying to minimize his Muslim roots by claiming his father was a "non-Muslim Muslim" (yeah, right!!). Also, his step father was a Muslim, but he claimed he was an "atheistic Muslim." Wow! Isn't it grand how all these Muslims are not really Muslims?
#7: OldFriend- You NAILED the MSM on with post #56.
Americans want us to all get along.
WHAT NONSENSE. There isn't a dem breathing that wants to get along with a republican, any republican. They want to destroy the republican party, the country too if need be. They simply wnat everything their way or NO way.
#6: AliVeritas- Ali, You always keep us well informed. Your hard work makes us all better- and makes FREEPERS the BEST and SMARTEST on the GLOBE! But this week- you gave us a presious gift- Post #850
Operation Iraqi Freedom
#5: Timeout- You were on FIRE this week! Way to go!!! You had a lot of great posts- but post #293 was the GEM!
The best thing Republicans could do to counter the Bidens and their defeatist trope would be to start educating the American people about the changed nature of "war".
We are fighting non-state enemies with whom it's impossible to have a dialogue. Whatever we offer, their demand would be that we DIE. Our enemies are encouraged that their non-conventional war is working, wearing down the will of Dems and Americans who don't understand the stakes. Encouraged enough to make it implausible that they would change tactics now. They're the Lilliputians who've found a way to isolate and take down Gulliver.
And the Dems fall right into their lap, leading a large segment of the gullible public with them
#4: anita-Daggone Girl! You are just ALWAYS on your game! EVERY WEEK! This week I especially like your post #251. I suggest everyone read the whole comment- but the last line was just PRECIOUS!
MSM(CNN specifically) - You 're warned.
#3: YaYa123 -Dang! You came right out of the shoot- good and strong. TREMENDOUS showing this week. You just kept cranking out great post after great post! WAY TO GO! One of the BEST was Post #158
You got it right, OldFriend! Republicans haven't been obstructionist dividers for the last 6 years. Bush sure hasn't been. (much to our consternation, he should be dizzy by now, for turning the other cheek so often! )
The MSM pushing the lie that voting for democrats will rid the nation of dis-unity is wishful thinking foolishness. The democrats have made argumentative monkeys out of themselves. No matter what Bush has done, democrats have attacked him, and not just politically. Mean, vicious, personal attacks about his intellect, his ethics, his motives. And for the most part senate republicans haven't returned fire, nor even defended Bush. It's laughable for the MSM to now push the notion that democrats in control will fix what ails us. Perverted logic if you ask me.
#2: kabar-You have fast become one of my favorites. This week you slammed out some more GREAT STUFF! My favorite was post #336
It is also worth noting that to date, 5,582 Iraqi military and police personnel have died defending their country, i.e., about twice as many as American military personnel. Iraqis are fighting and dying for their country and also deserve our support and recognition of their sacrifice.
#1: rodguy911-Well- you blew away evryone with your post #140 that had a link to this beautiful statement..
"Sacrificing my free time is nothing compared to the sacrifices made by the patients I provide comfort to," he said. "Military service is about sacrifice. If you take out the sacrifice, it's just a job. That's what gives it its honor."
You had many other great posts, but this one was the most important. Thank you!
