"fiscally VERY conservative"

====

Sure, that's why you voted against Prop. 76, that would have helped control spending, and that's why you can't bring yourself to vote FOR Arnold, AGAINST Angelides, who plans to raise everyone's taxes by billions.

Sure, that's how a fiscal conservative acts, sure.

I hear the same arguments from all those "Stay Home Republicans" who insist they will only vote for conservatives. Here's another way to look at it.

I happen to be lucky...I live in a southern state where my GOP candidates are true conservatives.

But some choose to live in liberal states where conservatives are a distinct minority. In those states (and nationally), conservative numbers will never add up to a majority. In order to advance their agenda, they have no choice but to align with RINO and libertarians to cobble together a big tent majority. The best we can hope for is to advance SOME of the agenda each year. It's a political reality.

But that's not good enough for the stay-homers. They insist on conservative purity, even though it will never become the governing majority in their state (or in national politics). There just aren't enough of them. I look at what the nutrooters are doing to Joe Lieberman and it reminds me of the stay-homers. Purity before winning. They fail to realize that, by driving the moderates out of their party, they move it more and more into the minority status.

I happen to be among the half-a-loaf crowd. Give me half a loaf vs liberal government any day. Especially at a time when liberals will so imperil our national security. Liberals learned long ago to bide their time and advance their cause one baby step at a time. After 60 years, just look at all they've acheived in the courts, the universities and the media. Like the libs, I'll be satisfied as long as I see conservative principles being applied, even slowly. It sure beats the alternative.

He's been a very reliable partner in advancing a very strong Democratic agenda," said Fabian Nuñez, the Democratic speaker of the Assembly.

You're Arnold's cheerleader, not she.

So soon you forget, FO. There were many conservative reasons for voting against Prop 76, remember?
Prop 76 was a sham to mask more borrowing, had less than 50% Republican support, and did nothing to cap spending.
