I hear the same arguments from all those "Stay Home Republicans" who insist they will only vote for conservatives. Here's another way to look at it.

I happen to be lucky...I live in a southern state where my GOP candidates are true conservatives.

But some choose to live in liberal states where conservatives are a distinct minority. In those states (and nationally), conservative numbers will never add up to a majority. In order to advance their agenda, they have no choice but to align with RINO and libertarians to cobble together a big tent majority. The best we can hope for is to advance SOME of the agenda each year. It's a political reality.

But that's not good enough for the stay-homers. They insist on conservative purity, even though it will never become the governing majority in their state (or in national politics). There just aren't enough of them. I look at what the nutrooters are doing to Joe Lieberman and it reminds me of the stay-homers. Purity before winning. They fail to realize that, by driving the moderates out of their party, they move it more and more into the minority status.

I happen to be among the half-a-loaf crowd. Give me half a loaf vs liberal government any day. Especially at a time when liberals will so imperil our national security. Liberals learned long ago to bide their time and advance their cause one baby step at a time. After 60 years, just look at all they've acheived in the courts, the universities and the media. Like the libs, I'll be satisfied as long as I see conservative principles being applied, even slowly. It sure beats the alternative.

I see your point but we still need to demand better of Republicans. McClintock has managed to remain a conservative. I pray he is elected as Lt Governor. I will vote for Arnold for the first time. I voted for McClintock in the recall election.

I therefore had such low expectations for the Governator that he has exceeded them. LOL. He turned out better in some ways. But every time I'm ready to cheer, he comes out with some dumb pandering remark or flaming liberal response. However, Arnie was unusually bold with his special election last year, especially the attempt to break the union stranglehold on the state.

Not only is he married to a Democrat -- a Kennedy! -- but he's a thoroughly Hollywood guy too. With all that influence on him, he does pretty good. He will be elected, and when so, we must demand better of him.

CA did not deliver the electoral votes to GWB, but we did deliver 5,501,496 popular votes. We still have real Americans here, although you do not hear our voice.

P.S. My big fear, in this election, is that Jerry Brown will become Attorney General.
