Oct. 21, 2006 - If the elections for Congress were held today, according to the new NEWSWEEK poll, 60 percent of white Evangelicals would support the Republican candidate in their district, compared to just 31 percent who would back the Democrat. To the uninitiated, that may sound like heartening news for Republicans in the autumn of their discontent. But if you’re a pundit, a pol, or a preacher, you know better. White Evangelicals are a cornerstone of the GOP’s base; in 2004, exit polls found Republicans carried white Evangelicals 3 to 1 over Democrats, winning 74 percent of their votes. In turn, Evangelicals carried the GOP to victory. But with a little more than two weeks before the crucial midterms, the Republican base may be cracking.

This voter suppression campaign by the drive by media is really getting pathetic.

Yeah. I've never seen the equal of this before. I remember how the MSM hated Nixon, but even then, the hatred was not as nearly as universal as it is today for Bush.

Every "news" program, every "commentary" has as its agenda to drive down the Republican turnout and get Democrats to vote.

The media is well beyond the pale this time. If the Dems get Congress back I fully expect the media to go into full impeachment mode.

“Despite what you may have heard on Fox News, we Democrats know what issues are on the minds of heartland conservatives like you. We know that your number one concern of is the safety of  your children -- whether they are plucking their banjos on the back porch, speaking tongues to snakes at Jesus Camp, or torching crosses at your local Nascar racing contest.”

I have a dumb question.

Wouldn't an article like this INCREASE the very turnout they say is 'dwindling' ?

how the MSM hated Nixon,

They did.
But they didn't have to all make it appear how much.
Cause they were the only source of news.
With alternatives news sources they have to run this like a gang!
The Drive By Media!

The media outlets that are engaged in outright voter suppression should have their broadcast licenses pulled for violating the FCC charter. That would be some October surprise.

Pathetic and oh so annoying. Just sad that the MSM takes all their marching orders from the DNC. Have they no shame?

ABSOLUTELY! Conservatives are extremely intuitive and plugged-in. The #1 concern will be SCOTUS justices. There are few conservatives that will skip a vote based on the fact that there is a legitimate fear for the 3 that are soon to retire. They're waiting for a decision in 2006 before retiring.

If I read Newsweek, I'd do it the same way I'd evalaute stories in "Socialist Worker". I'd consider the source because it's NOT news.

More like the football coach's direction before speaking to the team, "Take a knee...no Gabler, one knee."

I think the Leftwing media is making a last stand. A poor electoral showing, coupled with current revenue reports from the big media players, may indicate (even to these lamebrains) that the game cannot be played that way any more.

People want the truth. And when teople can get the truth, telling lies becomes a poor business model.

This gives me hope. Are yall tired of elections? It use to not seem this draining to me. It seems we are in a constant campaign these last few years. One done and another started.

The following scene happens after the liberals lost elections big time in 2006 and 2008. They became vanishing whining beasts after the Republicans turned out in mass to keep Republican in power and to vote the Rats out of power.

Because Newsweak understands neither conservatives and/or Jesus's people, they are really shooting blind in this one. We'll see on Nov. 8 how badly they missed.

Drudge Headline:

Barron's predicts Stupid Party Holds!

I believe it. Limbaugh turned me around on this last week. The negativity is an orchestrated effort to suppress Stupid Party turnout. They Evil Party had to play the Foley card early because Bush was getting traction on the war, and it is now fading. Limbaugh was brilliant in pointing out that if not for the Republicans in the House the McCain-Kennedy immigration bill would be law. This was classic Dr. of Democracy brilliance. Savage can keep to his smarter than everyone cynicism, but Limbaugh optimisim is going to prevail.

My prediction?

Stupid Party faithful rally at the finish, driven by backlash to Evil Party/Media conspiracy. Stupid Party holds on by a nose in both houses.
