Many, many voters are seriously comparing candidates only now through election day. Polls do not predict. Good GOP candidates with good voter education and GOTV drives will rise.

The latest voter intensity numbers from Rasmussen and and Cook both show the same thing. Republicans are now ever so slightly ahead in intent to vote. That's NOW. That's a sniff of the very beginning of the foley backlash. Wait until next week when it has fully kicked in. Also it is the Democrats that always have the turn out problem in mid term elections.

Some advise from LOTR.
Hold your ground! Hold your ground! Sons of Gondor, of Rohan, my brothers! I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me!
A day may come when the courage of men fails. When we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship. But it is not this day. An hour of wolves, and shattered shields when the age of men comes crashing down!
But it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear... on this good earth... I bid you stand! Men of the West!

Personally, while I hope the Pubs retain the Senate, I would like to see the Dems take over the House. One, it would be a needed slap in the face to the somnabulent House leadership. Two, I think the American public needs to see a Speaker Pelosi and Committee Chairs Conyers and Waxman. I think it would definitely be a boon to conservatives in 2008.

Wasn't Rush dismissing the same polls when they were showing Democratic wins?
To: Oakleaf
JMO, the liberal media skewed their polls and when the democrats lose, they will scream that the election was stolen, based on their previous phony polls.

I no longer expect much from a nation that could give Gore and Kerry such numbers as they achieved, but if we do well this time around and Dem heads explode, I stand ready to do my part with the mop, bucket, and can of Schadenfreude.

It is this issue, illegal immigration, that the Democrats are losing big...Democrats are losing on the issue of illegal immigration, and it just makes me mad. This election wouldn't even be close if the Republican Party had been on the right side of the illegal immigration issue from the get-go and had hammered the Democrats with it and forced them to take a losing position, which is what's happening in Oregon.
I read the entire article and this is the last paragraph of Rush's comments. Needless to say, he nailed it and the proof is that in "Blue" Oregon this issue is helping the GOP.

Rush also said that this election wouldn't even be close if Bush and the party had been on the right side of the immigration issue and banged on it relentlessly. And he is right. Nobody to blame but themselves if they lose.

These wide spreads that we've seen up to now in the polls are designed to depress conservatives and Republicans and thus to suppress turnout NPR discussions have been about Democratic landslides and the hosts are giddy. It is time to shut down that political organization. With Soros they don't need their cheesy telethons or contributions from jihadists.

How much of a "reverse Foley" effect is there? People ticked off that the Dems and the press are trying to tar and feather everyone with this nasty brush, while Democrat scandals are ignored? It's got me all wound up. I'm taking election day off to work for the party, which I haven't done in 30 years. Why? Because I'm MAD.

Does anyone else remember 2004 being similar where up til October it looked very likely Bush would lose?
Does anyone else besides me know people who were tempted to sit home but the hate from the dems have made them go out and vote? Maybe hold their noses but they will vote.

I've said this for six months. The polls are all, ALL, way off. They currently appear to be moving toward reality, but remember, they will STILL be 2-3 points short of what the final vote will be. They will be 2-3 points to the LEFT, which puts them in the margin of error.
Course, it also means that in almost all cases, the Republicans will win.
We will gain at least one, maybe two, seats in the Senate and a seat in the House.

It's amazing that you never hear about disaffected Democrat voters. There were all sorts of stories during the primaries about how Democrat turnout was the lowest ever, but you don't hear anything about that today.
I always say, I don't hold anything against the Democrats for just being who they are, it's the media that I hate because they pass themselves off as objective and then distort the news.
