Three of the Florida Supreme Court Justices ruling in favor of AlGore in 2000 are up for a retention vote on November 7, 2006. Justices R. Fred Lewis, Barbara Jean Pariente, and Peggy A. Quince all face the question "Shall Justice _____ of the Supreme Court be retained in office?"
Revenge is a dish best served cold and I'm pulling this thread out of my freezer for your dining delight.
Pass the word and let's make this a triple play!

How confident are these FL SC justices? 100% confident that they don't even bother to campaign. NOTHING.
Merrit retention is a joke. It is de facto job security for appelate judges.

pariente must go! As I recall, Pariente was the ringleader.
If it would be advisable to concentrate our wrath on but one of the SCOFLAws, she would be the one.
Pariente: Guilty of overweening arrogance while practicing partisan law.

Thanks for this valuable information. I will mark my absentee ballot today and vote NO on these three 'Justices' with pleasure. I will also vote YES for Harris and hope she wins!

Thanks so much for the info. Had been waiting to fill out my absentee ballot until I got more info on judges. My first inclination was to vote "No" on them all anyway. Funny.
Isn't there an Appelate judge on the ballot, too? Don't have it with me this weekend, so I'm not sure about that........What about that one?
Will vote for Katherine as well as Christ and Vern Buchanan who is running for the Harris seat.
Anything else I should know?
Good idea about trying to get Rush and Shawn to talk about judges, Max, although, most people don't pay any attention to them. Wish there was more info out there about them.

IIRC, Quince was nominated by Chiles before he died, but his confirmation wasn't approved until after Jeb had taken office, and after Jeb "ratified" the nomination.

Joe, Than you VERY much for this thread and ping for the FLA FReepers!!!
Usually when I vote, I use the template from the following:
The Anti = US Military, USA, Republican, Israel, God, Jesus, The Bible, and ALL THINGS BUSH, 24/7 - 365 Non-Stop, Democrat-Progressive-Liberal-Circle-Jerk".
For those of you conservatives who do not live in Volusia County FLA, the dems call it "The Daytona Beach News Journal" (Online...when on the web).
They have DBNJ "Recommends" section for EVERY election.
Just to be safe, I read who and what THEY recommend to vote for or on.
Then I just have to vote the OPPOSITE.
It works EVERY time.....

Any info on
Judge Emerson R. Thompson, Jr. from the 5th DCA based in Volusia County (Daytona Beach)? He's on my ballot for a retention vote. Another Lawton Chiles appointee, so "NO to retention" is the default position unless Thompson has demonstrated competence and impartiality - rare, but not impossible.

I found the article you referenced and it answered my question to you ... DBNJ supports Thompson and makes him sound very liberal if not activist. Article

Here's the lead story for Monday's Rush Limbaugh live thread: Bush v Gore is ON in the 2006 Florida election! Four of the key players are on the ballot: Katherine Harris is running for Senate and three of the four Supreme Court Justices who sided with AlGore are up for a retention vote. YES for Harris, NO for Justices - let your Florida friends and family know. Spread the word!

The website for Katherine . The military co-ordinator is
chuckwinn@electharris.org. He is a great guy met him and Katherine at a rally in Davie she is a awesome, gutsy lady getting beat up badly in south Florida by THE MIAMI HERALD ( Locally called the bad Cuban herald) and the Sun-Sentinel home of more crooks per sq inch than you can count. The list would take 45 minutes to type out lets also get out Lorrie Parish as Bro-ward County Property Appraiser and don't forget the chief court clerk who served 2 years in jail for fraud ex Fla sen ex bro-ward county comm who is burying as unreadable 90 percent of court cases inBroward County concerning people with money. But we need Katherine she is BOTTLED ELECTRICITY IN ACTION!
