Apparently (surprise, surprise) no US newspaper ever mentioned this! My French is rusty, basically, the article says that Stephan Chapin and Bertrand Charpentier, two Frenchmen who were "married" in 2004 (the French state, to its credit, refused to recognize this ceremony) were sentenced to four and eight months of prison (suspended) for writing stolen checks against their landlady's bank account. They also have to repay the housing subsidy they fradulently obtained while living rent-free.
Let's see:
- France's first "gay couple" sentenced for theft
- Massachusetts' first gay couple divorce
- Boston's first openly homosexual councilor arrested for soliciting sex from a minor
- The first openly homosexual congressman censured for having sex with a page
Their protestations notwithstanding, homosexuals are not like the rest of us.

I think you have an extra 'de' in your post. Should probably be Les ''mariés de Bègles'' condamnés à la prison avec sursis, I believe. Sorry to be pedantic, but the double proposition grated.

************************************************************ Au contraire - they are very much like the rest of us.
- Do you honestly think that heterosexual couples have never been sentenced for theft? - Puh-leeze!
- Do you honestly think that heterosexual couples never get divorces? Double Puh-leeze!
- Do you honestly think heterosexuals are never arrested for soliciting sex from a minor? (In the past 2 years, here in Detroit cops pretending to be 14 year old girls have caught and convicted over 60 men trying to solicit sex from minors)
- Do you honestly believe that heterosexual politicians never have sex with pages? (Hint "BJ" Clinton)
Homosexuals, unfortunately are EXACTLY like the rest of us.

A survey out today says their numbers have increased by a full third in the past five years; must be catching on.

The right phrase is "Les ''mariés de Bègles'' condamnés à de la prison avec sursis" (condamnés à (faire) de la prison).
