BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan -- New details have emerged in the case of a U.S. Air Force officer who disappeared mysteriously last month while serving in the far-flung ex-Soviet state of Kyrgyzstan, casting doubt on her claim that she was kidnapped.
Maj. Jill Metzger, 33, vanished from a store in the Kyrgyz capital, Bishkek, on Sept. 5, shortly before she was to return to the United States. Three days later, authorities said, she turned up at a farmhouse 20 miles away, her hair dyed and feet bloody, saying she had been abducted, had overcome her kidnappers and had escaped.
New facts revealed by the Kyrgyz police, however, deepen the mystery and raise the possibility Metzger orchestrated her own disappearance. Kyrgyz authorities say there is no evidence to back up her account that a woman approached her while she was shopping and kidnapped her.

I imagine she dyed and cut her own hair to alter her appearance before changing her mind about disappearing.
As reported by fox news.
WASHINGTON The Justice Department has launched a criminal investigation into the disappearance of U.S. Air Force Maj. Jill Metzger, who went missing for three days last month in Kyrgyzstan, FOX News has learned.
Federal law enforcement officials told FOX News that Metzger's disappearance is being investigated by the FBI, and the center of the investigation appears to be the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Virginia in Alexandria.
"This doesn't add up," said one federal law enforcement source who confirmed that the investigation was taking place.
If Metzger had simply gone absent without leave (AWOL), it is presumed she would be prosecuted by the military under the Uniform Code of Military Justice. If she was kidnapped in Bishkek, the investigation likely would be centered there.
"""The Air Force has been conducting its own investigation into what happened and whether Metzger may have had a hand in her disappearance. Defense officials last month also said her story does not add up."""

I don't think that Fox News just made up this news story.
If you have some information then share it with us.
Wouldn't be the first time DOD mislead the news media.
Several rumors were offered to explain her disappearance:
1. She needed an abortion in Mexico.
2. She had plastic surgery in Mexico.
3. She had a long session with a lover...
My vote is number 1..

Your point being?
"Isn't she engaged to be married? "
She had been married a few months before the hoax, one theory floating around which I don't really understand, is that she did this to hide an abortion.
Supposedly it was to conceal an abortion by having it done outside of the military, to hide it from her husband.
It seems to me she could have taken a three day leave to somewhere to receive a civilian abortion instead of having it done in Kyrgyzstan, why she did this remains a mystery, until I see evidence, the abortion rumor is only a rumor.
This in no way implies malfeasance on the part of Major Metzger. Fox News is simply reporting that the method of investigating is abnormal. Considering this is a potential civil case for Kyrgyzstan, it is most likely being filtered through the State Department. If in fact she committed a fraud against the Government, the UCMJ would cover it all and the State Department would not be involved. The simple fact that they are implies circumstantial truth to her statements.
Fox has reported that she failed a polygraph, the video is here.

I have no idea who those people are, but that was a great story.

Take a deep breath and read the Fox story and see if you can get a clearer picture of what is being investigated.

You are dishonestly rewriting the article, below is the actual context of the agents quote.
"She apparently told Kyrgyz police she had been abducted by three young men and a woman in a minibus and held in a rural area about 30 miles from the capital.
This doesn't add up," said one federal law enforcement source who confirmed that the investigation was taking place."
Never heard of Milton Berle?
