The clock is ticking...a little over two weeks to the election. Gotta love Rove and the Republicans at this point.

"I hope Democrats would never knowingly and illegally leak sensitive information just to score political points.

Yep, and I hope the Lions win the Super Bowl too, but hoping against hope. Hey, leaking information of any sort, sensitive or not, for political gain, is what the 'Rats are all about. They don't care who it hurts as long as the gain by it.

So, Nancy Pelosi should resign because of this. What did she know and when did she know it? She took no aggressive action against this staffer even though she must have known about these leaks. Likewise Harry Reid. Likewise Teddy Kennedy. Heck, all the 'Rats should resign.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but after reading the first 30 or so posts on this thread, I'd almost swear you were all born yesterday. Now please don't shoot the messenger. I know most of you are incredibly bright, politically-aware and savvy people. That's why you're here.

OK? OK. Then please: tell me on the basis of what past evidence do any of you think this story will get any traction whatsoever? The media will ignore it into oblivion, and when they do pay attention to it, they will spin it to make Republicans look like the bad guys, just trying to "hide the continued failure of the Bush Administration's policies in Iraq....blah blah blah ad infinitum. The Republicans, for their part, are too scared about losing their phoney baloney jobs to take a stand on this issue, and will take a pass for the most part. And the Times will once again get away with publishing national security secrets without paying a price, and more leaks will follow.

Convince me I'm wrong - please.

I would expect anyone who is found to have illegally leaked such information to be terminated from government employment and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Expect? No. We've been let down by the DoJ for too long.

Wish for? Absolutely!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Friday, October 20, 2006

BLUNT ON INTEL LEAK

WASHINGTON—House Majority Whip Roy Blunt (Mo.) today issued the following statement on the suspension of a Democrat House Intel Committee staffer pending review of the possibility that the staffer illegally leaked sensitive intelligence to The New York Times:

“We are a nation at war and intelligence is one of the most valuable tools we have to fight terrorists. Intelligence should never be used as a political weapon.

“It is absolutely necessary that the House Intel Committee conduct a thorough review of the illegal leak of intelligence to The New York Times in war time. I support Chairman Hoekstra’s decision to suspend a staffer who may have orchestrated the leak until all the facts are known.

“I hope Democrats would never knowingly and illegally leak sensitive information just to score political points. And that’s what an investigation would determine. I would expect anyone who is found to have illegally leaked such information to be terminated from government employment and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

“The safety and security of the American people is too important to risk with partisan political games.”

I heard the Dims replied, "The report was classified as *Secret* not *Top Secret* and We should hold judgement before blaming the staffer" Depends on how you define *Secret*.

Why didn't the NYT report this leak to the proper authorities? The were aiding and abetting a criminal, a traitor. The NYT needs to be brought up on charges!

You can "hope" in one hand and $#%! in the other. See which one gets filled first.

Go Roy! Whoever it is, if they DID leak, needs to be prosecuted. One or two convictions for this kind of stuff and the leaks will stop.
