Blunt on Intel Leak
U.S. Newswire ^

Posted on 10/20/2006 10:28:25 AM PDT by zippy the razor

WASHINGTON, Oct. 20 /U.S. Newswire/ -- House Majority Whip Roy Blunt (Mo.) today issued the following statement on the suspension of a Democrat House Intel Committee staffer pending review of the possibility that the staffer illegally leaked sensitive intelligence to The New York Times:

"We are a nation at war and intelligence is one of the most valuable tools we have to fight terrorists. Intelligence should never be used as a political weapon.

"It is absolutely necessary that the House Intel Committee conduct a thorough review of the illegal leak of intelligence to The New York Times in war time. I support Chairman Hoekstra's decision to suspend a staffer who may have orchestrated the leak until all the facts are known.

"I hope Democrats would never knowingly and illegally leak sensitive information just to score political points. And that's what an investigation would determine. I would expect anyone who is found to have illegally leaked such information to be terminated from government employment and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

"The safety and security of the American people is too important to risk with partisan political games."

It was reported last night that Harmons office had no comment.

"If this is confirmed, she should be recalled."

She should be indicted, censured & kicked out of the House, and face Federal prosecution.

"Could it be Rove's October Suprise?"

Of course. This thing will unwind over the course of time to reveal the staffer, the actual elected rat perp and the whole ring. It's probably all good to go at this point.

Look for the rats to go nuts...

Yep, and I hope the Lions win the Super Bowl too, but hoping against hope. Hey, leaking information of any sort, sensitive or not, for political gain, is what the 'Rats are all about. They don't care who it hurts as long as the gain by it.

So, Nancy Pelosi should resign because of this. What did she know and when did she know it? She took no aggressive action against this staffer even though she must have known about these leaks. Likewise Harry Reid. Likewise Teddy Kennedy. Heck, all the 'Rats should resign.

The staffer and anyone with knowledge of this should be tried for treason and then shot.

All that is happening is a contrast about hpw Republicans and Democrats are handling the country.

To Democrats, Foley is a big thing. To Republicans it is the leaking of intelligence to the Slimes. People are not stupid. They see this.

"Good idea."

It's the law (violation of a Federal statute and a felony, Real high crime) that these turkey's make and expect everyone else to abide by. The Republicans should make political hay out of this, stick it to the Rats and make them suffer.

I understand your sentiments and feel that way sometimes too. Abe Lincoln had a few congress critters arrested and jailed during the civil war for seditious behavior. He didn't take the Constitution, the Law nor the concept of this nation lightly.

If it was the flip side, that is, if a Republican staffer has leaked something, the Donks would be in full cry. Sadly, the GOP has no old fashioned crotch fighters on the team and this story will slowly evaporate.

I disagree with you on this now. If Chrissy Shays the Arch RINO from CT with no spine who has been hitting the RATS hard (ie calling Kennedy a murderer) on their hypocrisy the political climate amongst the Pubbies has changed, the gloves are off. The Republican slime machine has been operating in full steam. Look at all the dirt that has been coming out on the Rats in Ohio, TN and numrous other place. There has been lots of posts on the FR today showing Republican candidates that were trailing pulling even or with in the MOE. There are even a few Rat house seats that are coming into danger of losing. This story will only add fuel to the fire in the Repbublicans favor and we all know that Rove knows this and will not play nice.

Hmmmm......dems caught giving out national security secrets for political gain.....dems playing the Foley card.....dems wanna "cut-and-run" WORLD-WIDE......

Boy, ya know what would go good with this dem security leak scandal 2 weeks out before election day"...

If I was the RNC, I'd quickly make a campaign video commercial, run it nationwide 24/7 for the final two weeks, with nothing on it, but the words of the terrorists on it talking about killing America, and Americans, while the dems have nothing to show but leakers, who are undermining our country and troops, and Foley = All Reps rants.....

If only I could tell this to Ken, and Karl before it's too late to make a commercial like that...

OBTW,....IB4RYMBP......(In Before Rove You Magnificent Bastard Pic)......

Not to put too fine a point on it, but after reading the first 30 or so posts on this thread, I'd almost swear you were all born yesterday. Now please don't shoot the messenger. I know most of you are incredibly bright, politically-aware and savvy people. That's why you're here.

OK? OK. Then please: tell me on the basis of what past evidence do any of you think this story will get any traction whatsoever? The media will ignore it into oblivion, and when they do pay attention to it, they will spin it to make Republicans look like the bad guys, just trying to "hide the continued failure of the Bush Administration's policies in Iraq....blah blah blah ad infinitum. The Republicans, for their part, are too scared about losing their phoney baloney jobs to take a stand on this issue, and will take a pass for the most part. And the Times will once again get away with publishing national security secrets without paying a price, and more leaks will follow.

Convince me I'm wrong - please.

After all Foley was just about Sex (cybersex) and everybody knows that sex is a private matter and selling secrets to China are ok if you are a RAT. I hope this gets more coverage, can they connect the staffer to a Congressperson?

Expect? No. We've been let down by the DoJ for too long.

Wish for? Absolutely!

I tried to tell the optimists that there would be no traction on the Reid scandals and was pooh-poohed. You are, of course, correct on this.

Some people still believe the Treason Media cares the slightest about the Truth. It is in the business of creating FANTASY. The Bush NG memo was not an exception there are HUNDREDS of stories carried by the Treason Media like that EVERY DAY.

I hope we both get to eat our hats over this but there is a different world out there which people just cannot believe.
