We have lived as if in a trance.
We have lived as people in fear.
And nowour rights and our freedoms in perilwe slowly awake to learn that we have been afraid of the wrong thing.
Therefore, tonight have we truly become the inheritors of our American legacy.
For, on this first full day that the Military Commissions Act is in force, we now face what our ancestors faced, at other times of exaggerated crisis and melodramatic fear-mongering:
A government more dangerous to our liberty, than is the enemy it claims to protect us from.

I refuse to read what this man has to say. OK, he's a pompous windbag, but well, he's so unintentionally funny that it's worth it every once in a while...

Hey Keith, here's an idea.
You reduce your salary to 60,000 dollars a year. Now tell me who you are supporting.

Will someone stuff a sock in this idiot's mouth? Hopefully Olberman will be one of the 700 lay-offs from NBC..... He should go back to stalking Lisa Leslie.....

He and the other moonbats just don't get it. We are at WAR! A war, by the way, not of our own making. And in a war, there are certain modifications to rights and "freedoms" that need to be made in order to survive. We have to make these adjustments, all of us, for the common good of this nation. Sorry, Keith, but your "rights" take a back seat to my personal safety. That's the way it is. Get over it.
Oh, and Keith, I would say you were better as a sports guy, but then I remember why you and ESPN parted ways.

He just made the wrong career move.
He should have stayed doing what he does best -- watching athletes shower.

We have lived as people in fear. WTF? This never ceases to amaze me: the we-live-in-a-fascist-police-state-blacklist-fear-the-darkness-gulag-bound bedwetting drivel that the left is always droning on about. They don't have a CLUE as to what that really means.

Hey Keith, here's an idea. You reduce your salary to 60,000 dollars a year. Now tell me who you are supporting. Actually, someone pointed out upthread that the axe is ready to fall at NBC (and generally in the media), so that is a very large possibility. He could wind up making $15,000 a year as a greeter somewhere.
Point is, his view may be contaminated by ruminations about his own impending journalistic demise.

Oh, and Keith, I would say you were better as a sports guy, but then I remember why you and ESPN parted ways. I don't [won't!] have cable......what's the deal on Olberman's moving from sports to .... whatever? (Like I care.)
Little bit of baggage there?

Man-O-Man, the Military Commissions Act of 2006 is the best thing since sherbet.
The first thing we have to do is to get the Supremes to sign off on it.
Next a quiet pronouncement by a suitable administration that certain undesirable groups are enemy combatants or better yet enemies of the State. A little confaltion here is a good thing.
Then we begin quietly pullin these undesirables off the streets and confining them. Of course we won't have to worry about habeas corpus and same-such as they won't have any right to access the courts (saving our tax dollars if you know what I mean).
Man-o-man, I'm fixin' to fall out here, gettin' jazzed, just thinkin' about how we can make our country more fit for regular americans.
The first bunch we can go after are the aryan nation types, then the survivalists, next the flag-wrapping fascist gun nuts, followed by the regular flag-wrapping gun nuts, and lastly the reich-wing fascist talliban mullahs starting with the Falwell, Dobson and Robertson.
Naturally, everyone can see the benefits of this legislation. And to show you I'm an equal opportunity sorta guy, we can clean up the drug dealers and drug financiers too. Man-o-man, hoooo-boy.

God bless you, sir. I was beginning to think there was no one left on FR with an independent thought. No offense intended to anyone, honest.
Instead of ad hominems, what about the issue at hand?
Is habeus corpus now dead?

Keith Olberman quit ESPN to go to the FOX sports show that failed. He than runs off to MS-LSD where he trips over his hairspray and his pancake makeup. He is an absolute empty head. This guy is a jabroni.
