I do not watch television or read newspapers. So, the last time I watched CNN news in any kind of volume (more than walking in an airport and glancing at it) was probably 10 years ago.
Last night I went over to a friend's house, and he was watching CNN, and I think it was Lou Dobbs doing some kind of forum with an audience, and the graphic at the bottom was something like "ATTACK...on the Middle Class". It was unbelievable...reminded me of watching Oprah or something like that. They had some family on who was driven into bankruptcy by medical costs on a newborn child, and the camera panned to some lady in the audience wiping her eyes...
Then there was a "News" segment, and the first thing was, in big huge letters "THE FOLEY SCANDAL"...the next item was "REPUBLICAN PANIC"...after that it was BUSH APPROVAL PLUMMETS...then it was PUBLIC DISAPPROVAL OF CONGRESS and they showed stats on disapproval for REPUBLICANS in Congress without making any mention of Democrats. All the while, I am watching the little text crawler at the bottom saying things like "US Soldiers Hunted by Snipers..."
(Excerpt) Read more at cnn.com ...
"The Islamist Army says it wants talks with the United States and some Islamist Internet postings call for a P.R. campaign aimed at influencing the American public. The video is disturbing to watch but CNN believes the story, shocking as it is, is one that needs to be told..."
It was the last line that really PISSED me off. The "NEED" to tell has nothing with doing any kind of service to American civilians or military, but all to do with saliacious fearmongering to try to bring down a government on the backs of dead or injured military personnel.
NOW I know why I hear people calling it "The Communist News Network". And that is an insult to Communists.
gotto agree. I walk past the monitors with CNN on at the gym. That few seconds wrankles me enough to energize me for an entire workout.
Why is it that so many gyms, malls, restaurants, etc. have CNN on their TVs? Do they get a special price? Is it the decision of management at those places?
I wonder what would happen if customers refused to go to those places. But mostly I wonder what would happen if some conservative said that they were "offended" by the channel.
CNN is good for one thing.......knowing your enemy. Lou Dobbs is good for one thing........he hates illegal immigration.
Suggestion for travelers.
When I used to travel a lot, as an early riser, I would head to the hotel lobby for morning coffee. Often I would find the usual CNN blather.
Sometimes, I would be able to change the channel to FOX. Sometimes, the desk clerk would agree to make the change.
Gratification was acheived later when business travelers were watching and listening to Fox News.
The special benefit was when Fox was still on the following morning.
I think folks just set it and forget it.
If more of us became engaged as the customers who are actually paying for that channel to be shown, we could show others a better way.
Excellent, Dustoff. We'd all better imitate the libs and use the magic word, OFFENDED, to scare the bejabbers out of management in places we patronize.
If you think CNN is bad try watching CNN International.
Or even worse, the BBC. The BBC is an English version of Al-Jazeera . . . .
The only thing I like about CNN is they post the sports scores at the bottom of the screen in the morning. Other than that, it's a waste of time.
DNN, Dhimmi News Network
I haven't watched CNN since my local cable company added Fox News in the late 80's, and just in time for Monica Lewinsky...
yes and sometimes it is a package situation. If you want A you must buy B. (ala Oprah requiring stations buy Dr. Phil if they want to broadcast Oprah)
CNN is also FAR superior as a repackaging medium. They take the same stories and repackage them for airports, gyms, banks etc. They also have CNNeurope, CNNturkey, and CNNasia.
Of course you could ask the gym. Sometimes it is just a cable TV feed and nobody has asked.
REPUBLICAN PANIC
BUSH APPROVAL PLUMMETS
PUBLIC DISAPPROVAL OF CONGRESS
Showed stats on disapproval for REPUBLICANS in Congress
Psy-ops at work......or leftist propaganga, take your pick.....
CNN is a study in behavioral conditioning. They create a sense of insecurity, create an emotional link, and use the brief flashes of text to insinuate jingoistic slogans into the mind. Then they run polls to see if the conditioning has been successful. If not, they continue to run the same stories. Once the proper opinions have been successfully implanted, the polls will show it and they can move on, assured in the Pavlovian liberal response to the proper stimulus.
Watching the clintoon news network is kinda like going and lurking at DU, isnt it?
I dont do either any more and my blood preasure is better because of it.
I've mentioned this before. A couple years ago, I was forced to get a hotel room in a place that did not have FNC. Watching CNN it hit me - these people are not having any fun. They do not enjoy what the are doing. This past weekend, that opinion was supported by none other than Greta at FNC. In a round-table discussion with other FNC people, that is basically what she said.
Boy, you've got that right! It may as well be called CNN's Hate America International. As a news junkie, I've been unfortunate enough to only get news from CNN when out of the country. Watching that commie crap put a huge damper on my vacations. I'd much rather watch the back of my eyelids than CNN (domestic or International).
Friends don't let friends watch CNN, r. :-)
I haven't watched CNN since 9/11 morning...
No wonder Jack Cafferty (sp?) always seems so ticked off.
