For a moment we thought Jim Webb was just hurling another insult at women. Then we realized that wasn't quite it.
But, for the life of us, we couldn't figure out what possessed Webb to make this statement:
"Towel-heads and rednecks -- of which I am one. If you write that word, please say that. I mean, I don't use that pejoratively, I use it defensively. Towel-heads and rednecks became the easy villains in so many movies out there."

Towel-heads?!?!?!?!?!
This is the Urban Dictionary definition for "Towel-head."
A derogatory term for one of Middle Eastern descent, especially a male. It comes from their custom of wearing a turban.
And for the record, unlike "macaca" which was defined on Wikipedia after the Breaks incident, the newest definition for "Towel-Head" was entered on August 7, 2004.
The man who thinks we should trust his views on Iraq goes around calling Middle Eastern men "Towel-heads?"
Never mind his misuse of the term "Redneck." We know he's tried to claim that heritage in Born Frothing. That's insulting to those of us who have relatives in Southwest Virginia AND actually lived there. But we already know from Lowell's insults how the Webb camp feels about rural Virginia.
But back to Webb's signature issue. In June he said this:
"Then we could start calming down the insurgency [by] taking away the moral high ground it has in a lot of the Muslim world, and start relocating ourselves out of Iraq,"

MORAL HIGH GROUND?!?!?!?!?!?!?! You've got to be kidding me!
Make no mistake about it. We've never pulled any punches here about the fact that there are radical Islamic extremists that want us dead...just because. At the same time, we've recognized that there are many Muslims who condemn the senseless acts of terrorism and indeed many Iraqis who have become our allies as we have helped them liberate their nation.
But to casually refer to an entire ethnic race as "Towel-Heads" raises serious questions about Mr. Webb's diplomacy, his ability to lead and his character.
Oh sure, after his campaign manager called him on it, he tried to back peddle. But c'mon. He knew exactly what he meant. And for it to roll off of his tongue that casually in an interview, he's used it before.
Take a look at some of the synonyms for "Towel-Head" also courtest of Urban Dictionary: "sand ni***r," "dune coon," "jungle bunny," "arab," "muslim" "rag head."
Do any of us doubt that Mr. Webb knew, and has likely used every one of those terms?
George Allen was vilified for the use of word even The Washington Post couldn't define.

The current count of Post articles featuring the "macaca" story is somewhere in the 200 range? Shall we expect to see as many about "Towel-Head?"
I think we all know the answer. After all The Washington Post is Webb's friend. They endorsed him today. The A-Team has the story: Then and Now. All in all, a pretty pathetic attempt at an endorsement that we all knew was coming. Given they spent four paragraphs bashing Senator Allen and only two addressing Jim Webb, it is clear this is anti-Allen and not pro-Webb. You get the feeling the Democrats could have put up Lyndon LaRouche as their candidate and the Post would somehow have found it possible to endorse him via linguistic somersaults on account of their strange, deep-seeded hatred (yes, I said “hatred”) of Senator Allen.
Really, who amongst us is the least bit surprised that the Post endorsed Webb? They've been an extension of his hate-filled, smear-filled campaign for months.
But on the same day, the Post ran this: NoVa and RoVa: Welcome to a State of Disagreement.
It held such little gems as this:
In NoVa, a lab is the family dog. In RoVa, a lab is the family meth business.
Note to the Post, Jeff Foxworthy is funny when he tells redneck jokes.
Y'all are just idiots.
And that's just for endorsing Webb.
Spread the word pingage.

Well yeah Webb is a Democrat. Of course it's OK for him to use offensive terminology.
I am pretty sure Webb meant he is a towel head, not a redneck.

The Post is gonna get a crapload of subscriptions canceled over that one. Sneering at your own readers isn't usually good for business. I think the editors of the Post must have all gone on vacation -- the tripe they have printed on these elections in the last week alone is stunning. From a laugh-out-loud puff piece on Bobby Casey, to the admiring article about Democrats' "himbo" candidates being better looking than those old ugly Republicans, and now trashing most of Virginia. This newspaper must have a death wish.
As for this wholly derogatory slur, I must remind Mr. Webb of my Pre-PC days, not so long ago, when I was inclined to call our Mooslim brother and sisters, "Ragheads."
Then one of our Freeper associates was kind enough to correct me and dissuade me from continuing with this base practice (no doubt after having graduated from the Muzzie Sensitivity Course along with half of the FBI Agents in the country) and suggested that what "they" were wearing on their heads is NOT a rag, but in fact, a "sheet."
Thus since then, and henceforth, I will correctly address them all as "SHEETHEADS."
Ooh, does that qualify me as an "Islamaphobic?" I can only hope!!!.
As an aside, who wants to bet that we will NOT only NOT hear or see this reported in the MSM, but who wants to wager that CAIR will conveniently ignore this as well?

They just can't stand it that people outside the vaunted borders of NoVa can actually get in their cars, and drive 4 or 5 miles within minutes, as opposed to hours.
They also can't stand it that we know people in our vicinity who were our classmates 30 years ago. And, some of those people are not of the same race. Imagine!!!
In addition, they just cannot stand the fact that we drive a few miles to our parents' houses at holidays. No standing in airport lines for 1/3 of each holiday for the poor, illiterate, shoeless of RoVa. How DO we exist?
The 'wimmin' for Webb' page would be funny if what lis beneath ir weren't true. Webb is a user of 'wimmin', which is why I'm not surprised he had Clinton in here.
