Under Dems, old boss would be new boss on key panel
Veteran lawmaker Dingell poised to resume helm of Energy and Commerce Committee

WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) -- If Democrats take control of the House in the Nov. 7 midterm elections, the man who would hold the gavel of one of its most powerful committees won't have to worry too much about the learning curve.
Rep. John Dingell of Michigan, the longest-serving current member of the House, would be picking up where he left off in 1994 when Republicans ended four decades of Democratic rule and Dingell's 14-year chairmanship of the Energy and Commerce Committee.
Under Dingell's tenure, the committee's jurisdiction stretched far and wide, making the Michigander one of Congress' most powerful and feared committee chairmen. Republicans pared the panel's reach, but as its name implies, it still cuts a wide swath. And Democrats have vowed to take action on a range of measures under its jurisdiction, from energy policy to revamping the Medicare prescription drug benefit to updating the 1996 telecommunications law.
Republicans have portrayed the 80-year-old Dingell as a dangerous liberal, eager to re-regulate American businesses. The Republican National Committee charges that Dingell "supports Carter-era policies" including windfall profits tax on oil companies "that harm consumers."
Numerous requests were made for an interview, but Dingell was unavailable.

Remember, all discussions of "bipartisanship" will end if they win the majority.
1 chicken, 2 chickens, 3 chickens, 4 chickens, 5 chickens ...
Dingell was among the most partisan, ruthless, and arrogant committee Chairmen during the Rats' prior congressional reign.
I got scared when I read earlier on FR Pelosi's House of Bills. Egads!
--yep--"investigating" whatever business group was lax on making appropriate contributions to the Demotraitor Nat'l Committee---
Great, an 80 year old dingell.
And also a big terrorist/Hezballah lover.
These arrogant bastards. Ordering the drapes and new carpets three weeks before the vote. I've volunteered to work for my pubbies, Santorum, Swann and Murphy and will donate to Steele and Blackwell. If we all do something, make calls, donate money, get your friends and relatives to vote, we can make the difference.
What about Dingell-Norwood?
There is ONE good thing about Dingell. He is probably the most PRO SECOND AMENDMENT SUPPORTER in DC. And you can take that to the bank.
I don't know... You'll have to ask Algore if he has it in his lockbox. At first I thought you were lookin for the Dingell-Berry!!!
Now that's what I call a thoughtful reply! Bravo!!! Encore!!!
I know, Henry, he's awful!!!
Here's hopin all she ever gits into is a "house of cards!"
Yes, but his pro-Second Amendment stand is simply a sham, because he knows that the other Rats will cover for him with their anti-Second Amendment votes.
Thank you very much. /Elvis
