Drudge: Rove Confident GOP Will Retain Congress
Drudge Report ^ | October 17, 2006

Posted on 10/17/2006 9:46:43 PM PDT by RWR8189

White House political strategist Karl Rove tells editors and reporters at THE WASHINGTON TIMES: 'I'm confident we're going to keep the Senate; I'm confident we're going to keep the House. The Foley matter has impact in some limited districts, but the research we have shows that people are differentiating between a vote for their congressman and a member from Florida.' MORE...

'It is useful to remind people what [Democrats] said and what they do. I think they have given us here, especially in the last couple of weeks, a potent set of votes to talk about. You had 90 percent of House Democrats voting against the terrorist-surveillance program, nearly three-quarters of Senate Democrats and 80 percent of House Democrats voting against the terrorist-interrogation act. Something is fundamentally flawed.' DEVELOPING...

Hillary will never be President. The one thing that will derail her will be her smirking and her negative facial reactions when GW addressed Congress on Sept. 20 2001. It was nine days after the worst attack on American soil, and she made an ass out her self for the world to see.

People have forgotten about those images of Hillary broadcasted live on national television for everyone to see the true Hillary. Those images will be replayed, replayed and replayed on conservative televsion shows and in commercials. It will destroy her hopes.

Hillary will never be President. She may try, but she will not succeed.

Why?

If the Democrats take the Congress on Republican turnovers Nancy Pelosi will completely misread the voters will. She'll believe that the country desires San Francisco values in DC and run with it. By the end of 2 years she will destroy the chances for her party to move behind a temporary gain.

Dubya, Rove, and the RNC are playing this perfectly. The ads are already bought, the remainder of the money will go into GOTV efforts in districts and states that need shoring up, the Foley scandal is old news, and we have yet to see Karl unleashed.

To put it simply, watch the suicide hotlines near the DNC headquarters on November 8.

Exactly Bill Clinton only beat GB Sr. because of Ross Perot. If no third candiate in 92, Clinton would have never soiled the whitehouse.

I've often thought the only benefit to a Democrat takeover is that the 2008 GOP nominee gets to run against Washington.

And that would be the only benefit.

The Foley matter has impact in some limited districts

Anybody who's thinking of voting Democrat because of Foley needs to google Gerry Studds. Studds was the real deal. He didn't just IM a page about sex, he actually had sex with a page. After which the 'Rats gave him six more terms, committee chairmanships, and a round of glowing obits after he croaked last Saturday. E.g., read this and puke.

No, just pointing out the dangers of holding on to Congress and continuing to be a bunch of patsies.

"Republicans hold=Hillary will be President

Democrats take both Houses = any Republican win the WH in 08"

BARF. That thinking is all wet.

You have NO IDEA how much money and power will shift with even nominal control. ... as it is, GOP has a few cards to balance the liberal media bias. with a Dem victory, the media will be fully emboldened, and the Dems will turn the House committees into witchhunts for GOP scandals in the Bush admin. A GOP hold might make them reconsider whether media bias works.

I'd say chances of GOP victory in 2008 will be gauged by how well we do now. Better we do in nov, higher the odds in 2008.

We speak of pre-election predictions and all those "experts" that got it wrong.....Rove has always gotten it right, so far, and nobody seems to notice.

"Rove knows how seriously the polling is slanted towards Democrats."

I agree. Rove is not a magic man nor savior.
He simply is aware of polling reality.

The midterm season starts next week. The smarter than God experts said the Yankees would win the World Series too.
I like our chances.

"but to many, many blown opportunities by Rove to control the news cycle."

Media bias makes it impossible for Rove or any Republican to 'control the news cycle'. This last month has seen no less that 4 ot 5 stinkbomb books designed to tropedo the Republicans in many different ways (Woodward, Kou book, etc).
