A new Rasmussen Research Poll shows Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger leading state Treasurer Phil Angelides by 9 percentage points, campaign sources said. Other recent polls, including the L.A. Times survey, have shown Schwarzenegger as much as 17 points ahead of Angelides.

The new poll — taken last Tuesday and Wednesday — has Republican Schwarzenegger with 49% of those surveyed compared to 40% for Democrat Angelides. Seven percent said they were undecided, and 5% had picked another candidate. The Rasmussen poll surveyed 500 likely voters.

(snip)

In total, 57% of those surveyed had a favorable view of the governor, compared to 44% for Angelides. As for the negatives, 42% of those surveyed had an unfavorable view of Schwarzenegger, while 53% disliked Angelides.

More people dislike Angelides than dislike Arnold. Arnold's favorables are 57%. Its gonna be a blowout in Novemnber... a Terminator-sized one.

I guess Angelides could try to run against Ahnold's blatant heterosexuality... My guess is the lead will lengthen in the polls, but the Dhimmicrats will be working their usual skullduggery (vote manufacturing, about the only kind of manufacturing which will be left in California if they succeed) and the actual election result will be much tighter, with Ahnold receiving 50 per cent or more.

Fascinating process. Here are my unexpurgated reults:

Noonan 15

Olivier 10

Austrian 4

Crapweasel 0

Camejo 0

Jordan 0

Guess I'll give Noonan and Olivier another look since I will not be voting for the Great Equivocator...

Arnold's lead is making downticket races more competitive and in several, the R candidate has a chance of actually winning.

Is that just a turnout factor, or is he actualy campaigning with others? Why is McClintock so close to Garamendi? Is Schwarzenegger endorsing and campaigning with McClintock?

Took a little more time, read the questions and prioritized the issues:

Oliver 13
Noonan 10
Austrian 4
Weasel 0
Camejo 0
Jordan 0

Still dumbfounded why 4 points to the Austrian. System must be based on rhetoric, not actions.

Were Westley the challenger Arnold would have a much harder time. We can thank Angelides for this turn of events, not the Grovelnator.

So why is McClintock having a hard time with Garamendi? I thought Schwarzenegger and McClintock got along well in 2003.

I've been on the record here for a long time saying that Schwarzenegger does not have coattails, or if he does he chooses not to use them. He has appointed Democrats to senior positions that Republicans could have been "groomed" from. He doesn't campaign with Republicans (that I've seen in the media -- maybe one or two here or there). He recently appeared at a Willie Brown fundraiser with Barbara Boxer and Don Perata (Angelides was a no-show). He refused to announce his candidacy at a GOP convention, but went on the Tonight Show instead.

Just how much campaigning for down-ticket Republicans has Schwarzenegger done? I honestly don't know.

So why is McClintock having a hard time with Garamendi?

Because he's an unabashed conservative and Garamendi has the appearance of a moderate Democrat. Thus Tom has to win moderates on the strength of his arguments and against the typical bogus demonization.

I thought Schwarzenegger and McClintock got along well in 2003.

Other than attend a few fundraisers, Arnold has done virtually nothing to support Tom. He's even canceled planned combined appearances.

I've been on the record here for a long time saying that Schwarzenegger does not have coattails, or if he does he chooses not to use them.

Mostly the latter, but since he's been running left ever since the last special election, it's worse. He's giving credence to leftist ideas. Yet another blessing of a RINO.

He has appointed Democrats to senior positions that Republicans could have been "groomed" from.

Yup.

He doesn't campaign with Republicans (that I've seen in the media -- maybe one or two here or there).

Nope.

He recently appeared at a Willie Brown fundraiser with Barbara Boxer and Don Perata (Angelides was a no-show).

Embarrasing, isn't it?

At the convention, his people even ordered the banners of the down-ticket candiates taken down before he spoke in front of cameras.
