(MONONGAHELA, October 16) -- Washington County Commissioner and Pennsylvania 12th district Republican Congressional nominee Diana Irey -- responding to Jack Murtha's refusal to meet with her to debate the issues -- today released this statement:
"Why is Jack Murtha scared to debate me? Two leading newspapers in our district -- the Washington Observer-Reporter, and Jack Murtha's own hometown newspaper, the Johnstown Tribune-Democrat -- have now urged him to debate. Several TV stations have offered to air the debate, so that the public can tune in for themselves and see the contrasting visions we have. And the League of Women Voters has offered to sponsor and set up the debate.
"Yet Jack Murtha refuses. His official response was, 'My record's out there for everyone to see … I've done it the same way all the time.'
"Of course, Jack Murtha is counting on the fact that everyone in the district thinks he's the same old Jack Murtha they always knew. But we know otherwise. As I've pointed out before, if you think the Jack Murtha of 2006 is the same Jack Murtha you've been supporting for the last three decades, you don't know Jack -- and for proof, you can visit YouDontKnowJack.org to read up on the Jack Murtha you never knew.
"As I said last week, the only reasonable conclusion one can reach is that Jack Murtha is flat-out scared to debate me. He knows I will hold him accountable for his record, and for his behavior as our Congressman. And he knows that debating me would be a sure-fire loser for his campaign.
"But just because Jack Murtha is scared to debate me doesn't mean the voters of the 12th District should be denied the information they would have received had Jack Murtha been willing to meet to discuss the issues. So today, and for the remaining days of this campaign, I will offer one reason per day why Jack Murtha is scared to debate me. There are 21 days left to campaign, so I will offer 21 reasons.
"Reason #21 that Jack Murtha is scared to debate me: he doesn't want anyone to know that HE HAS VOTED HIMSELF TWELVE CONSECUTIVE PAY RAISES."

I've been talking to a friend in Chandler, AZ about Diana's campaign to unseat Murtha. He's an army vet who was in the 82nd Airborne and does not like Murtha. Well I got an email from him 10 minutes ago and he just contributed to Diana today (he didn't say how much). Arizona supports Irey all the way to victory!

Saturday, October 21, 2006:
Diana's day began with a pro-life breakfast in Cambria. I was unable to get any additional information on this event.
Frank played JV Football against an undefeated team that has kept their record. Pine Richland lost 13-0.
I was also informed that they lost the game Friday night. I was misinformed and I apologize for the error.
Ali attended her "Hip-Hop" dance class and dance practice for an upcoming parade immediately following.
After breakfast Diana headed back out to the "JPM Highway to Nowhere" to meet and greet the Dump Murtha Bikers!
I certainly hope the semi sign is still there. The DM bikers would love it, I'm sure!
Of course our Diana was a huge hit and the event was "fantastic!" Diana said, they are an awesome bunch of guys that want to beat Murtha so bad they can taste it!!!
A little birdie told me that while Diana has leathers, she chose not to appear at the event wearing them. It is election season, doncha know. ;*)
Ali attended a Halloween/Birthday party at a friends and Tori had a friend over to work on a school project last night.
Diana attended another pro-life event last night at the Allegheny County South Hills Country Club.
The featured speaker was Bobby Schindler, Terri Schindler Schiavo's brother. His talk was very passionate and moving.
Contributors were also happy to see Diana in attendance.

I had not contributed cash to a political candidate in perhaps twenty years . . . until Friday, when I made an admittedly modest contribution to the Irey campaign.
It was her appearance on the Mark Levin show that did it.
I do not remember if I EVER contributed cash to any candidate ... until DIANA!
