WHY DOESN'T JACK WANT TO DEBATE? REASON NUMBER 21: HE DOESN'T WANT ANYONE TO KNOW HE'S VOTED HIMSELF 12 CONSECUTIVE PAY RAISES

Monday, October 16, 2006

(MONONGAHELA, October 16) -- Washington County Commissioner and Pennsylvania 12th district Republican Congressional nominee Diana Irey -- responding to Jack Murtha's refusal to meet with her to debate the issues -- today released this statement:

"Why is Jack Murtha scared to debate me? Two leading newspapers in our district -- the Washington Observer-Reporter, and Jack Murtha's own hometown newspaper, the Johnstown Tribune-Democrat -- have now urged him to debate. Several TV stations have offered to air the debate, so that the public can tune in for themselves and see the contrasting visions we have. And the League of Women Voters has offered to sponsor and set up the debate.

"Yet Jack Murtha refuses. His official response was, 'My record's out there for everyone to see … I've done it the same way all the time.'

"Of course, Jack Murtha is counting on the fact that everyone in the district thinks he's the same old Jack Murtha they always knew. But we know otherwise. As I've pointed out before, if you think the Jack Murtha of 2006 is the same Jack Murtha you've been supporting for the last three decades, you don't know Jack -- and for proof, you can visit YouDontKnowJack.org to read up on the Jack Murtha you never knew.

"As I said last week, the only reasonable conclusion one can reach is that Jack Murtha is flat-out scared to debate me. He knows I will hold him accountable for his record, and for his behavior as our Congressman. And he knows that debating me would be a sure-fire loser for his campaign.

"But just because Jack Murtha is scared to debate me doesn't mean the voters of the 12th District should be denied the information they would have received had Jack Murtha been willing to meet to discuss the issues. So today, and for the remaining days of this campaign, I will offer one reason per day why Jack Murtha is scared to debate me. There are 21 days left to campaign, so I will offer 21 reasons.

"Reason #21 that Jack Murtha is scared to debate me: he doesn't want anyone to know that HE HAS VOTED HIMSELF TWELVE CONSECUTIVE PAY RAISES."

I just want ya'll to know that all during CBS's Face the Nation with Bob Schieffer, john murtha, and howard dean, a Marine was on his knees in front of the toilet.

(He was fixing a crapper, as most Marines are wont to do. murtha, on the other hand, spews crap.)

Sometimes you gotta laugh or you'd just break down and cry. And my mood is too good to Face the Fathead today. Did you watch the interview?

One of the things that the 'doom and gloomers' and naysayers get wrong is to work their numbers by modeling the Republicans and the Democrats as monolithic voting blocks. They then 'transfer' that monolithic massaging of
the numbers by applying the "Republican/Democrat monolithic model" to Veterans and their families, as well as to other voting blocks. (i.e. The result is the implied assumption that the demographic/voting block will vote along party lines on each and every issue and on each and every candidate.)

With certain issues and candidates, this is genericly true. Within certain demographics, however, there are issues which trump all else. The demographic will tend to vote in a certain way and for specific candidates and issues, no matter their party affiliation or the party affiliation of the candidate in question. Veterans are one such "demographic." Fundamentalist Christians are another. Evangelical Christians are yet another. The PA-12 CD is just such a demographic as a whole. They are also old-fashioned American Patriots, and in general, they have a strong sense of right and wrong. Among other things, for them, politics still stops at the water's edge.

This demographic will hear the words of a Jack Murtha, and they will state with complete moral outrage, "That is wrong!" Their Patriotic and moral sense of right and wrong will trump their allegiance to such a candidate, no matter their party affiliation. As for his condemnation of America and of America's military, they will know themselves to be betrayed by such a candidate. At such a time, the peccadilloes and unethical behaviors of such a 'favored son' candidate will no longer be tolerated or winked at. In general, in such a demographic, fidelity to Constitutional principles, combined with a strong sense of right and wrong, will trump all else.

Certain things cannot be quanitified numerically. These are the things that Gary and I call "indicators." They are factors that cannot be ignored. If such factors are ignored it will only lead to false results in polling and in analysis, no matter how honest or true the poll and the analysis. The analysis will be incomplete at best, and thereby, it will be false. In other words: Just because you ignore it - or don't know about it - doesn't mean it ain't there.

In 1979, Islam declared war on the United States and upon Western civilization. Just because we ignored that declaration for almost thirty years...didn't mean that we weren't at war. Today we are forced by circumstances to deal with the folly of ignoring that war for nearly three decades. The Jack Murtha's among us continue to ignore that declaration of war. They continue to say that America, and thus, Americans, are the bad guys. By declaring America to be evil, they declare that we as individual Americans have done something to earn the death and devastation that has been, and continues to be, visited upon us by the followers of Islam.

For a politician to say that America is evil is to say that the very people who have elected him are also evil. To elect or to re-elect such a candidate is to accept that politician's judgment upon us as being true and accurate. To elect such a candidate is to accept their condemnation of our own lives, and is to judge and to condemn ourselves as evil. The 12th district has decided that they can no longer accept that judgment or the condemnation of America, or the representation of such a man as this. Jack Murtha is such a man. They know that Jack Murtha has not only condemned America and her military, but that he has personally judged and condemned the people who have voted him into office. They are entirely in the right to be outraged. In their outrage, they will seek another to represent them in Washington.

Diana Irey is a candidate who exactly reflects the demographic of the 12th district. She reflects their values, their courage, their patriotism and their love for America and for their fellow Americans. After the 7th of November, she will be going to Washington, D.C. to represent the people of Pennsylvania's 12th Congressional District.

As promised, here is my political statement picture of Irey on the front lawn.

The grassroots of America are speaking out for Diana Irey's campaign in PA-12 district.

Over the last six years, I've sent out more than three hundred thousand emails and have made tens of thousands of posts on various forums and blogs.

I've been spreading the word in one fashion or another for quite some time already, you see. I have already reached several million people in America and around the world. I plan to reach even more...

No. I don't sleep much. I'll sleep when I'm dead. In the meantime, I have a nation and a way of life to try to save and to improve. Working to spread the word about men and women like Mrs. Irey has been a small part of that effort.

There's nothing at all noble about it, really. In working to save my nation and to preserve liberty and individual sovereignty, I save my own life...and I save the lives and preserve the freedoms of my children and my grandchildren.

It is time to spread the word, people. To anyone and everyone you can think of. Speak the truth. Be rational, calm and reasonable, even if you are full of passion. Provide the facts through abundant and unimpeachable resources and references. Allow those you've contacted to think for themselves, and to have the time to think for themselves.

You will make a difference. Just as you have in the Murtha/Irey campaign and other activities in which you've all been involved.

The world is ours to make and to change as we will. Hopefully, when we take our last breath in this life, the world will be the better for our having been here.
