Rep. Murtha blasts GOP for name-calling
© 2006 The Associated Press
WASHINGTON - Rep. John Murtha, a decorated Marine veteran who favors withdrawing U.S. troops from Iraq, wrote an essay for Sunday's Washington Post blasting Republicans for referring to him and other Iraq war opponents as "Defeatocrats."
In his opinion piece, first published on the Post's Web site Saturday night, Murtha, D-Pa., said Vice President Dick Cheney, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld and others in the White House have called Iraq war opponents appeasers and pessimists and labeled Democrats the "cut and run" party.
"It's all baseless name-calling, and it's all wrong," Murtha wrote. "Unless, of course, being a Defeatocrat means taking a good hard look at the administration's Iraq policy and determining that it's a failure.
"In that case, count me in. Because Democrats recognize that we're headed for a far greater disaster in Iraq if we don't change course _ and soon. This is not defeatism. This is realism."
Murtha, a military hawk and close confidant of top military officials, surprised Washington last year when he called for pulling all troops out of Iraq within months.
At a GOP fundraiser in Milwaukee last month, Cheney accused Murtha of advocating a policy of retreat in the war against terrorism.
In the Post essay, Murtha wrote: "Democrats are fighting a war on two fronts: One is combating the spin and intimidation that defines this administration. The other is fighting to change course, to do things better, to substitute smart, disciplined strategy for dogma and denial in Iraq.
"That's not defeatism. That's our duty," Murtha wrote.

That's the goofiest looking bird I've ever seen. It does bear a striking resemblence to someone I've seen around though. ;*)
Hopefully Traitorus Abscamus will soon become an extinct species in the 12th District.
Yes.....pathetic!
Anyway to "squeeeeeeze" johnny boy into the pic and add "and CONgresscritter" to that pic?
(G'night Jaz, G'Night Justa)
On the Purple Hearts.....
Has anyone seen the official commendations?
Has anyone seen the scars or medical reports?
".... Murtha is a retired marine and was the first Vietnam combat veteran elected to Congress. Since 1967, there have been at least three different accounts of the injuries that purportedly earned Murtha his Purple Hearts. Those accounts also appear to conflict with the limited military records that are available, and Murtha has thus far refused to release his own military records."

I'm off to finish my homework.
Actually, we have a beautiful "Fish Trophy" that I believe refers to the Muskie award.
Alas, the keeper of the trophy has gone to bed. ;*(
You nailed them!!!
Call him Charlie McMurtha, or perhaps Murthamer Snerd!
LOL.......... excellent. They're both good.

Just so you know, he's pissed me off again. For such a strong military hawk he has a blatant disregard for the definition of duty. If he mouthed off like this to or defied a CO while active...
He is a disgrace.
And another thing. He doesn't have the balls to respond to Diana and then utters more filth from the cover of an internet post via Houston????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I believe he belongs to the Vulture branch of the family.
Grabbing military pork for your district does not make you a "Hawk". It makes you a log-rolling, tax-and-spending, Congressional parasite. How many Billions of dollars has been poured down a hole to guarantee this fat-a$$ed loser his comfortable lifestyle in Washington, D.C.?
