The last big voter registration law, Motor Voter, was designed to maximize Democrat Party voter fraud.

For the most part, the GOP went along with it.

Maybe it will be a good thing for the Republicans to lose the House of Representatives for two years. It will make them catch their bearings and figure out what they stand for.

I personally wish the motor voter law would be repealed. That is one of the worst laws ever, and encourages illegals to vote in our elections.

There isn't one country in the world that would let any of us vote in their elections.

It depend on the results of the election where this bill will go. If we hold the House it has a chance.

The bill is one of the priorities of Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., when Congress returns after the election.

"AFTER" the election. Well, a lot of good that'll do this go 'round. What have they been doing for the last two years?

Please, don't anyone answer that.

It can be argued that making it easy for potential terrorists to get fake photo IDs is a threat to national security.

Oh, can it??

Most people assume that residents in this country illegally will not try to vote. But a majority of House Republicans, aware that there are millions of illegal immigrants here, didn't accept that assumption.

Rightly so, I spoke with some Latin American immigrants. Nice people otherwise but quite convinced/brainwashed that they have moral right to push their cause. If told to vote, vote they will.

We passed a law here in Arizona to do just that. I voted in the primary and had to show my I.D.

But the 9th Circus has since overturned our law so now all the illegals can vote in Arizona from now until Nov 7th. (We have early voting here so people are already voting).

I am a republican committeeman, and my state representative called me recently and was very upset. There are many illegal aliens living in apartments our district. The Democrats are registering the illegals in droves, and my representative said it will take a miracle for her to win this time.

Then it comes before a liberal fed judge and it's ruled unconstitutional...

Absentee ballots were intended for those people like you were 'physically unable' to vote on the date of the election. We have gone way, way beyond that now. Early voting is a big one. Absentee voting should still exist but the requirements for being able to do it should become stringent so that people don't vote absentee simply because they are fat and lazy.

I too fully agree relating to mandated voter ID's. The Dems will begin losing races when they can not fraudulently gain phony victories.

I was sloppy with my terms. I often vote 'Early' when I know I'll be travelling on election day (rather than voting via 'Absentee' ballot) and there is just as much opportunity to verify my identity when I would walk my ballot down to the courthouse as if I were to show up at the polls. (Though my previous state does NOT check ID at the courthouse nor at the polls - Don't know about my new state yet.) I have no problem with more stringent requirements but I still would want to keep open the Early and Absentee options. I agree that excess girth and/or diminished ambition should not be a reason.
