BOSTON, Massachusetts (AP) -- Former U.S. Rep. Gerry Studds, the first openly gay person elected to Congress, died early Saturday at Boston Medical Center, a hospital official said. He was 69.

Christian Kiriakos, central administrator at the hospital, said Studds died between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. He did not have additional information, and details of Studds' death could not be immediately confirmed.

Studds, a liberal Democrat who spent more than 20 years in Congress, was censured by the House in the 1980s for having sex with a 17-year-old male page. He was re-elected for several more terms.

Last year he married his longtime partner, Dean Hara, in Boston.

This thread is going bad. A man has died. Let the Man upstairs handle it

Actually it is the liberal mainstream media who made this thread bad with their fixation on Foley, shouldn't they be held accountable.

Are you talking about his name having been in the news lately or the, "dead at 69" headline?

Where'd they find the body ........ up an old muddy road?

That was my first thought...particularly when FNC says that no one was aware he was sick or had any physical problems.

Didn't Chris Wallace have to issue a correction only last week on FNS when he referred to Studds as a "late" Congressman. Pretty weird ...

Yes he did. I just posted that on another thread. When I first heard him say that I wondered how I had missed Studd's death since he's a native of my town and I know his family.

This should be a good educational news story for the American People and provide a "Compare and contrast" moment vis-a-vis Studs/Foley. Of course, if you are intelligent enough to correctly do this you are probably already a conservative.
