Former Massachsuetts Congressman Gerry Studds has died.
The 69-year-old Studds died this morning at Boston Univesrity Medical Center.
He'd been hospitalized after sustaining head injuries from an accident while walking his dog.
Studds was a ranking member of the House Democratic leadership and advocated for New England fishermen and the ocean environment.
studds, who grew up in Cohasset, was the first openly gay person elected to Congress. He served from 1973 to 1997.
He is survived by his husband, Dean Hara. the couple was among the first same sex couples to be legally married in Massachusetts.
Did you come across any recent pictures?
Wonder if the press is going to give any more details on this 'dog walking accident'? Was he hit by a car...did he fall down...what? Very strange reporting if you ask me.
I don't know how often something like this happens while "walking the dog", but I do have a friend who slipped on some ice while walking her dog. She's been in a nursing home for years now and is basically a vegetable after hitting her head hard on the pavement.
I don't understand how Massachusetts can use the words "husband" and "wife" when two sexes are not involved. another example of selective "reporting."
What will Rahm Emmanuel & Nancy Peloci have to say about this?
Purely personal opinion here, but I just have to think, at least in the case of teenagers, I'm not allowing anything where the sun doesn't shine coercion or not. So I believe there must have been just a small amount of mutual admiration.
The Gerry E. Studds Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary, which sits at the mouth of Massachusetts Bay, is named for Studds

"FOX NEWS SUNDAY" HOST CHRIS WALLACE: Nowhere has the Mark Foley story hit harder than among the Republicans' conservative base. We brought together some leading conservatives to talk about it: David Bossie, president of Citizens United; Laura Ingraham, host of a nationally syndicated radio show; and Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council.
Welcome, all of you, to "Fox News Sunday."
We should point out and I want to apologize here former Congressman Gerry Studds is alive and well.
Timing is so ironic.....to say the least. How do you get killed walking your dog?? Was he walking his dog in Marcy Park??
"Studds fell unconscious Oct. 3 because of what doctors later determined was a blood clot in his lung, Dean Hara said.
Studds regained consciousness, remained in the hospital, and seemed to be improving. He was scheduled to be transferred to a rehabilitation center, but his condition deteriorated Friday and he died at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Hara said."

Will he get Social Security from his/her wife/husband/life partner/significant other..?
If your theory is correct, then why is Foley still alive? Why are other homosexual congressmen still alive?
Why is Ted Kennedy alive?
Just dang though, this will give fodder to the conspiracy black helicopter nuts over at the DUmpster.
Just a guess, but was it a weiner dog..?
The timing is just too wierd. When was the accident itself??
this week he was the wife. they probably take turns.
well apparently not for studds
Studds was not well, and was reported in the press.
JMO, some spinning from Studd's "husband".
