Democrat Deval Patrick yesterday accused Lt. Gov. Kerry Healey of planting a story about his rapist brother-in-law - an allegation hotly refuted by the lieutenant governor in an escalating war of words between the campaigns.
Patrick angrily responded yesterday to a Herald report that state officials have ordered Patrick’s brother-in-law, Bernard Sigh, to register as a sex offender, accusing Healey of “dirty politics.”
“This is the politics of Kerry Healey,” Patrick said angrily at a Cambridge press conference. “It disgusts me and it must be stopped.”
Sigh, 54, is married to Patrick’s sister and was convicted of raping her in 1993 in San Diego. He served a short jail term and was put on five years’ probation. The state Sex Offender Registry Board sent him a letter this week notifying him he must register within 10 days or face criminal charges.
Calling Healey supporters “garbage peddlers,” Patrick said it was “pathetic” that his family has been dragged into the campaign.

Deval is a DC insider, Dukakis funded carpetbagger. His campaign is all about 'feel goodism', Clinton redux. He is really bad news. God help MA.

Spot-on... worked under Rapist42 but his political persuasion is more like The Beasts.
How does this work? He is required to register? They have to wait for him to register?
Can't the authorities just slap his name on whatever list we're talking about here (since it is REQUIRED)?

I think the clinton spin team is pulling the strings here. There are still some Dukakis judges around, but any organization he had that was capable of backing a candidate is loong gone.

Yep. Deval is a smooth talker. And he knows how to get real angry when he's cornered.
You bet he does. It took me two minutes to find this. And Deval with his degree from Harvard Law pleads ignorance? Sigh did time, and would have been advised of the law upon release.
* Pursuant to Chapter 6, section 178C of the Massachusetts General Laws, a person is required to register as a sex offender if he/she lives, works, or is enrolled as a student in an institution of higher learning in the Commonwealth and was:
o convicted on or after August 1, 1981;
o adjudicated a delinquent juvenile on or after August 1, 1981;
o adjudicated a youthful offender on or after August 1, 1981;
o released from incarceration on or after August 1, 1981;
o released from parole or probation supervision on or after August 1, 1981;
o released from the Department of Youth Services on or after August 1, 1981;
o adjudicated a sexually dangerous person on or after August 1, 1981; or
o released from civil commitment on or after August 1, 1981; or is required to register as a sex offender in another state.

I don't know if Sigh has to register for crimes committed/convicted of in California. He is not registered in California. Massachusettes makes the dictinction that one must register if they were required to register in the state of the offense. Sigh is not considered a sex offender in California.

Yes. Though ironically enough there were a few days when the Globe was doing anti-Patrick front page pieces while front pages of the Herald were doing some jabs at Healey ("CON
JOB"). And today they attack Romney/Healey adm. re: Big Dig investigations. Chisty "V For Vendetta" Mihos was on 'RKO
this morning talking about it.
The polls have seemed to say that Healey is narrowing the gap while Mihos is stuck in single digits...but this may mean Mihos is the Perot that helped give us Clinton instead

It's time Christy saw the light and threw his support behind Kerry Healey. She just might pull it off with Christy out and Deval's true colors coming to light.
I think Christy is an ego-maniac and will stay in this race til the end.

You've got to be kidding me .. THE MEDIA ALREADY KNEW THE STORY .. at least those of us in San Diego already knew about the story. There was no "leak" to be leaked. But .. I wouldn't judge the candidate based on his brother-in-law's bad behavior. But .. since he seems to be supporting the brother-in-law's actions .. now that's suspicious.
It's just the typical mindset of liberals - all the dems crimes are supposed to be kept under wraps and and all the repubs (alleged crimes) are supposed to be exposed. Besides, why didn't the guy just come out and support HIS SISTER, instead of trying to accuse his competitor of "leaking" ..??
