BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) -- At least 12 people were killed in violence around Iraq on Saturday, while authorities found the decapitated corpses of seven people dumped north of Baghdad in what appeared to be a sectarian revenge killing.

The bodies were found in an orchard in the city of Duluiyah late Friday.

Three had been among a group of 17 construction workers kidnapped Thursday while traveling home to the predominantly Shiite town of Balad, police said. The corpses of the other 14 were found earlier Friday, also beheaded.

The kidnapping was apparently retaliation for the abduction Wednesday of three Sunni Arabs in Duluiyah by a Shiite militia based in Balad, police said. The three were killed and their bodies burned.

I'm just a housewife and mother but in my opinion, we cannot expect these people to understand freedom. Culturally, these people live in tribes and sects made up by religion. They are not individuals. I think their idea of freedoms are totally different then ours. Remember, they are muslims first, which does not allow individual freedom. They kill eachother and sabotage all that is done to make their own lives better. If you ask me, it is going to take a very long time to change their hearts and minds, we cannot fast track what we are doing over there. I do wish however, we could just get rid of the PC garbage, take total control and then slowly move them towards some sort of independance. It will never be like what we have.

The perpetrators are nothing more than butchers. The Iraqi people should turn on them. Why don't they?

When I see a post such as this, I wonder how many persons were murdered last night in, say, Washington, DC, New Orleans, Chicago, NYC and environs, LA, and San Francisco. Lets balance the numbers. Maybe Baghdad isn't that violent. I know that some parts of DC are downright dangerous (and I suspect parts of LA). In with the murders the number of persons charged with manslaughter would also be interesting.

(At least 12 people were killed in violence)

Yes, according to the AP, violence did it! We should ban violence! It was not terrorists since there is no such thing according to the AP.

When I visited DC, I was warned by the hotel not to go out after dark. Then I witnesed a shoot-out in front of the restaurant window. Could Baghdad be worse?

"We must avoid torture because it will only lead to the enemy resorting to the same thing."

Even the issue of torture should not be on the table. We should stand back and zap the terrorist countries to rubble with our air power and naval power.

Military Warfare 101 teaches not to fight the enemy on his own turf or on his terms. Our generals must have been attending sensitivity classes when that lessor was taught.

It's too bad that civilians must suffer in war, but we didn't start it.

Both the beheaders and the VICTIMS were MUSLIM. BOTH. We don't know for a fact, but IF the victims were peaceful Muslims, that blows your kneejerk ROP ALERT. If both were violent it was possibly SECTARIAN violence...like if Baptists were to behead Pentacostals it wouldn't make Christianity the reason. Have a nice day.
