Washington, DC While Republicans try to provide cover from their culture of corruption, Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid released the following report and statement on Republicans' abuse of power:
The idea of Republicans reforming themselves is like asking John Gotti to clean up organized crime. I thought Id seen the last of corruption when I helped clean up Las Vegas thirty years ago. But, while its not quite the mafia of Las Vegas in the 1970s, what is happening today in Washington is every bit as corrupt and the consequences for our country have been just as severe.
Some problems have no legislative fix, and the Republican culture of corruption is one of them. Todays announcements by House and Senate Republicans should be taken at face value minor wrist slapping and good public relation stunts by the same people responsible for this mess. Democrats will lead the tough reforms, because we owe it to the American people to stand up for their interests over special interests. Are we really going to believe that Republicans will stop answering the calls from their friends on K Street? Are they really going to put seniors ahead of drug companies when it comes reforming Medicare? Are they really going to help families over oil companies when it comes to gas prices? The answer to these questions is no, and thats why the American people trust Democrats to clean up Washington and put their interests first.
Oh I agree and I've been at this game an awful long time. The "conservative" republican congress has been a joke. Yes the Dems are worse but that hardly excuses the pathetic performance of Hastert's group.
Did you prefer Bob Michael or Newt Gingrich?
As for who put more money in my pocket? It was me. Government only steals what I make so it's the lesser of two evils.
When an actual fiscal conservative runs, please wake me and I'll vote for them. Until then they're all leaches and vermin.
Did he ever refile his papers for that $1.1 million deal?
Reid can not be trusted.........period.
Semper Fi
Seems like the MSM is moving into Hillary mode.
ROTFL! They could if they indicted all of the democrats who should have been in the justice system for the past several years.
And this from Harry, who does handshake deals (no paperwork, none the wiser!) with mafia connected ex-casino owners?
ROFL. This is even richer than Ted Kennedy complaining about waterboarding (were people only think they're drowning)!
"moving into Hillary mode."
Interesting, you think this is a way to move Reid out for Hillary to take his place.
REID: REPUBLICANS CANNOT BE TRUSTED TO END THE CULTURE OF CORRUPTION
Translation from liberal-ese to normal English:
Reid: Y'all can't trust Republicans to expel My Exalted Eminence, the Majority Leader, from the Senate, even after they win 61 seats come election day. They're so weak and cowardly that they'll probably let My Exalted Eminence run the Senate like I command 61 seats while the great family of My Exalted Eminence collects hundreds of millions of dollars in bribes.
Ugh!
We'll see.
I would actually.
As Senate Minority Leader, she would no longer have the luxury of running focus groups and going into group-think with her advisors and come out with statements on issues 1 or 2 days after every major Democrat has.
Then more people will see what a few of us not misled by the D-b-M know, thast Hillary is not too swift on her feet. Than when pressed and thrown off her script, she's bound to be error-prone.
She won't be in a position anymore where she can be protected by the dead and dying media dinosaurs and be an effective spokesperson for the party.
I was thinking more along the lines of how much her esteem would rise in the eyes of the MSM and netroot wackos.
Unfortunately, I don't take serious any investigation into the Clinton's "involvement" in any scheme.
Let's hope all others involved remain safe.
That's funny.
and being corrupt, he should know...
this clown is just an out rigtht fool caught with his hand in the till
Somebody find that skateboard kid in Searchlight, NV who went up to him in a diner and said he wanted to be 'just like him' when he grows up! He needs to see 'Scared Straight!' ;-)
Well said, Hitman. LOL!!!
I agree.... He also prevented Pan-Am being the only airline that travel overseas...
