Daley: By 2016, cameras on 'almost every block'
Chicago Sun-Times ^ | 10--12-06 | FRAN SPIELMAN

Security and terrorism won't be an issue if Chicago wins the right to host the 2016 Summer Olympic Games because, by that time, there'll be a surveillance camera on every corner, Mayor Daley said Wednesday. "By the time 2016 [rolls around], we'll have more cameras than Washington, D.C. ... Our technology is more advanced than any other city in the world -- even compared to London -- dealing with our cameras and the sophistication of cameras and retro-fitting all the cameras downtown in new buildings, doing the CTA cameras," Daley said.

"By 2016, I'll make you a bet. We'll have [cameras on] almost every block."

What is the intent? To make the streets safer or to provide evidence for the court trial of the murderer?

I would think that by having a better tool to provide evidence that would make the street safer. If a perpetrator knew they were being taped they might think twice about committing a crime.

The wouldbe perps would merely leave home in disguise rather than wait until they sight the prey to put on the clown nose.

Agreed.

However, it is all the more reason to make sure the Clintons do not get into the White House again. While my public behavior is exemplary, who knows how they might manipulate images (i.e., faux photography) to suit their purposes.

Great, then when the police back track the video they can see where the perp lives, the clown nose will make him easy to follow.

"Of course, that would mean they would be out in the weather instead of sitting at a desk with coffee and donuts at hand."

Not to worry. I hear Krispy Kreme's R&D people are working on a line of all-weather, waterproof glazed donuts, for just such situations.

Okay, then the intelligent perp would find someplace where there is no camera, which probably wouldn't be possible in this BNW, and pop the clown nose on and step out into view totally unidentifiable.

It was either in "1984" or "Brave New World" (I tend to mix them up) that the television sets in every home were two-way. While you were watching your favorite soap-opera, your favorite soap opera was watching you. A kind of "interactive" entertainment.

Don't know if KKD doesn't already have such a product, but the ones I bought yesterday from the local supermarket (store brand) might qualify.

You can't get home owner's insurance unless you agree to waive all your privacy.

I was at the Athens 2004 games.

It really was not such an uncomforable issue.

remember if you are in WashDC now they pretty much have everyone under face recognition cameras.

I think the issue becomes a problem when civil uses are made for these when criminal uses is the intent. IOW some divorce lawyer subpoenas ALL the records of where you were.

That is how they are going to do it. We won't be "forced" to be filmed at home. We just have the "choice" between paying $10,000 a year in coverage without the camera, and $800 a year with it. It's really your choice after all.

Kids born now are not going to even know a world where they could run around on the street, yes, getting into mischief, and living to tell stories about it later without it being documented on disk, and stored for later usage.

They need cameras in Daley's office to watch for corruption.

What about rogue cops who are stalkers of their wives, girlfriends, or exes. You put cameras everywhere, run photo id software to track them EVERYWHERE.

Let's just nationalize it too, so a woman who runs away from an abusive husband has to worry that he either knows somebody, or bribes somebody to run her mug through the system and detect where she is hiding out.

Lovely Brave New World we have got going.

Every time I think it would not be humanly possible for me to despise that stupid fascist scumbag Daley any more than I already do, he finds a way to prove me wrong.

Remember Meigs!
Remember the Chicago Gun Club!
Remember the right to keep and bear arms!
Remember freedom?

It's also one thing to know somebody did something bad, but a website devoted to it with color film is another. Trust me on this. Politicians will be blackmailed, or dirty tricked on this. It could be "innocent". In college you date somebody very fat or unattractive. Nothing illegal or wrong about that. If stored in a database, it will get on the web.

This just sickens me.

Parents are afraid to let them out for the MSM's bleating about molestors and murderers, and kids are afraid to go out because if they fail to wear a bike helmet they might get sent to juvie. Small surprise kids are herded into houses, playing Xbox and getting fat.

Thank goodness we live in a free country.
