Why couldn't Floridians nominate a candidate who could win?

This is a disgrace.

Could not agree more. After all the gaffes and mistakes her campaign made she STILL won the primary. Ridiculous.

Wait a bit. Pretty soon the Harris fanatics will show up and tell you how their girl is going to overcome all odds and win.

totally agree

with Florida there is no way she could win statewide after 2000

she and the Republicans knew it and it is an embarrassment Florida Republicans couldn't find a decent candidate in the whole state

I have seen her quite a few times on TV interviews and she comes off as a lightweight ditz

I know better but then I'm a diehard Republican

They did. Her name is Harris.

Look, these gloom-and-doom polls are nothing new to Harris. The FL media really has it in for her. These polls came out during her initial Congressional race too.

Funny how polls are suddenly believable when it concerns Harris. The same polls about Bush, FReepers would be screaming "BARF ALERT!"

{/ Sarcasm }

P.S. I feel rediculous putting the sarcasm tag on this it's so obvious, but last time I didn't, nobody got the joke. :(

Because the Florida GOP wanted to just coronate someone. This is what happens when the state party leadership and the rank-and-file have a fundamental disagreement on who actually runs the show.

The Florida GOP leadership should be ashamed of themselves.

It's a tough state in which to build up a political reputation. Lots of people just moved there 5 minutes ago and many of the ones who moved here 20 minutes ago aren't tuned into politics. There are almost no high-profile politicians because people don't care about politics. Katharine Harris had enough star power to be fairly certain of winning the primary against a reasonably competent candidate because said candidate would have to build up a name for himself with lots of cash. Many people still support KH for enforcing the law in 2000 and wouldn't hear about or believe the stories of her erratic behavior. And since she wouldn't listen to Jeb and George and Karl and pull out of the race, the only hope was to defeat her in a primary.
