LOS ANGELES Mel Gibson calls his anti-Semitic rant following his arrest for drunk driving in July "the stupid ramblings of a drunkard."
In an interview with Diane Sawyer set to air on "Good Morning America" on Thursday and Friday, Gibson says while staying sober is a struggle, he has not had a drink in 65 days.
He adds that he plans to continue making movies and working to heal himself and those he offended.
In a partial transcript of the interview released by A-B-C, Gibson says "All you can do is take another step, keep breathing."
The interview with Sawyer is the first time Gibson has spoken to the media since sparking a scandal by unleashing what he later called "vitriolic and harmful words" during his arrest.
Cough cough HOMO cough cough.
I never try to reform anybody like some ex-smokers do (I'm a smoker and have been an ex-smoker too); cause I don't like telling anyone how to drink or smoke, or chew.
Cheers!!!
Why don't you watch his interview on Thursday and Friday and than make up your mind about what he has been doing???
Thanks very much.
smoking could take ten years off your life........
smoking and drinking could take 20 years off your life........
But working in an all night convienience store could take 56 years off your life!!!!
LOL
I smoke too.
I always thought Mel was one one the few Conservative, Christians in Hollywood.
Can someone post links to some of his anti-President Bush comments?
As much as it will hurt, I'll add him to my Hollywood "will not put a dime in their liberal pockets" list.
True. Fortunately, there's almost no crime where I live. But I always have a shooter close by.
BTW. What are your thoughts on Reid's land transaction deals in Vegas?
"True. Fortunately, there's almost no crime where I live. But I always have a shooter close by."
My CCW is good in 32 states but not California : )
FReepmail
That's good.
He could start by stopping the Bush-bashing.
It was reported, with pictures, last week he was boozing it up at one of his previews....I don't care about him, and I, too, am a recovering alcoholic. HOWEVER, I don't believe that you say things when you're drunk that are based on nothing. You just don't say, out of the blue, JEWS ARE THE REASON FOR ALL THE BAD THINGS IN THE WORLD if you don't believe it inside. It's preposterous to expect people to accept that defense. And as a recovering drunk, I think you'll understand where I'm coming from
He's hoping that Hollywood will forgive him the Jew thing if he attacks the one person in the world they hate more than anything. It will probably work.
Gibson apologized, and I think that's the end of story. Whether people want to acept his apology, then that is up to the individual. I've asked my Jewish friends what they think, and they slough it off. He said the Hassidic Jews hate his kind of Jew, (sort of like Catholics and Protestants I guess) so he couldn't care less if a Roan Catholic (Gibson) makes disparaging remarks to Jews in general.
Heck, if you could reason, you'd never take the next drink!
I don't do liquor.
Then in that case I hope that conservatives - and that includes Sean Hannity - stop defending him. Gibson is a skunk. and O'Reilly's defense of him was also lame. Last night he tried to get Geraldo Rivera, who is Jewish, to forgive Gibson because Gibson had been drinking when he mouthed off, and Rivera, eloquently said, NO WAy! For once, Geraldo is right: Gibson used the classic anti-Semitic Jews control the world attack and this was not a sudden drunken thought on his part. As for "forgiving him", I leave that to individual people - I simply do not trust the Gibson forgiveness tour because I think he regrets that he was caught - period. And he has never denounced his father's terrible, terrible Holocaust denial. The apple did not fall far from the tree.
He opposes the Iraq War, as everyone should.
Why do you hate such a great man?
Mel Gibson is a socially conservative Christian who opposes the Iraq War. Good for him in both respects.
