The diagnosis is ambiguous in that symptoms of patients can vary greatly and still be called vegetative. A 1996 study published in the British Medical Journal showed that 43% of patients diagnosed with PVS do not qualify for the diagnosis. Yet the Culture of Death would prefer to euthanize them all.

Miracles do happen. Doctors don't know everything. That's why it's called PRACTICING medicine. Nobody is perfect.
Thank God for this, not medical science. Also send the story to Terry Schiavo's widow.

Unlike the brain dead Terri, the kid was merely in a coma.

"permanent vegetative state, has awakened from a 22 month-long comaPick one. It can't be both.
"Devon Rivers collapsed in a seizure during a phys-ed class in 2004 and his condition was never explained,
A seizure does not result in a permanent vegataive state. It doesn't even result in a vegetative state.
"though some doctors suggested it was caused by an unknown viral infection.
Then they could I'd the virus.
"Doctors agreed, however, that he had little hope of recovery.
Nonsense. The claims sofar is that no one knew, or they were contradictory claims. I think this story is made up and has little ground in reality.

Yes, if only they could pull the plug on all of them before they wake up. I guess these stories will change the way they act, they'll have to move faster. /end major sarcasm
What a wonderful thing for this boy and his family. I wonder how many more are sacrificed by these 'poor diagnoses'?

Thanks! No one can defend MS's actions and still be honest, IMO.
One husband threaten to sue because they TOOK OUT the feeding tube....
One husband got a court order to have the feeding tube removed...
From the link provided......
Last week Kate Adamson appeared on the programme O'Reilly Factor to relate she was diagnosed as being in a vegetative state and, like Terri Schiavo, her feeding tube was removed, only to be reinserted after eight days after her lawyer-husband threatened to sue the hospital if they did not reinsert it. Adamson also refuted the testimony of Terri's husband Michael Schiavo who suggested that PVS patients do not feel the pain of starvation.
O'Reilly asked Adamson, "So you were feeling pain when they removed your tube?" She responded, "Yes. Oh, absolutely. Absolutely. To say that -- especially when Michael [Schiavo] on national TV had mentioned last week that it's a pretty painless thing to have the feeding tube removed. It is the exact opposite. It was sheer torture, Bill."

I have heard stories of stroke victims in their 70s being told there was no hope for a meaningful recovery, and yet through intense physical, speech, and occupational therapy they were able to nearly recover eerything they had lost.
Never underestimate the human body's power to heal it self.

Yet the Culture of Death would prefer to euthanize them all. Careful now, many here at FR were willing to kill Terri (the only time i was ever ashamed to be a FReeper).
