One of the stories going around Democrat Party circles is that party operatives like Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) and American Family Voices weren't quite ready for primetime with the opposition research materials they had gathered for the 2006 election cycle.
According to one political consultant with ties to the DNC and other party organizations, "I'm hearing the Foley story wasn't supposed to drop until about ten days out of the election. It was supposed the coup de grace, not the first shot."
So why the rush? According to another DNC operative: bad polling numbers across the country. "Bush's national security speeches were getting traction beyond the base, gas prices were dropping, economic outlook surveys were positive. We were seeing bad Democratic numbers in Missouri, Michigan, Washington, Arizona, Florida Pennsylvania, even parts of New York," says the operative. "A month before, we were looking at launching an offensive against Republicans who according to polling barely held a five-seat majority if the election were to be held at the end of August. That was doable for Democrats from September 1 to November 7. But by mid-September, Republicans were back to having held seats for a 15-seat majority. In the Senate, it looked like a wash. We held seats in Florida, Nebraska, picked up seats in Pennsylvania, but that that was about it. They were holding in Missouri and possibly within reach of Maryland and Washington. We were looking at a disaster in the making."

Which means the current Foley bounce is just temporary.
That's the way I see it. A premature act of desparation. Now all it's gonna do is remind Republicans why not to support gays or gay *rights*.
bump
The dems are targeting this wierdo but they are not focusing on what needs to be seen. Foley does not have a nuclear bomb in his pants. When is this bipartisan back and forth going to stop. I really believe we have people in this country that want us to be taken over or blown up.
I got the feeling, too, that this "scandal" got launched a couple weeks too early. Foley's already getting stale. I have a feeling that the Republicans got wind of the scheme and, knowing they couldn't bury it, launched it themselves, preemptively.
There's been a lot of races lately where candidates air out their own dirty laundry on their own terms way in advance of an election in order to have time to recuperate. By the time the election rolls around, it's "old news". Plus, any possibility of a shock value is long gone.
Bill and Hillary's appearance on '60 Minutes' early in the '92 campaign was a classic example.
Here are some questions: do the liberals think we're not on to the real motive here? Do they think that we'll swallow whatever they feed, no questions asked? Do they think we're not aware all of this is pure politics? And do they honestly think this will work in their favor? Do they think that characterizing Foley as some kind of hypocritical poster boy that we'll stay home and let them sweep into control of the government?
Do they think we're that gullible, and guileless?
Thanks for posting this.....HA....saved by a scandal ...it's an upside down world.
"In case you didn't see this" Ping!
:) Let's wait for the tide to turn and the wave come crashing down on the party of jackassess aka Howie and the donkettes.

I am a patient woman. I am a patient woman. I am a patient woman. **tip-tapping my fingernails**
When you do evil things it always comes back to bite you in your evil donkey ass! Of course the Godless dimwitocrat party wouldn't know that.

gonna take a civil war...after some big cities get nuked and our ability to fight overseas is diminished..then we'll turn on each other and finish the war that started in '68.
Very interesting article and so are the links from there.

Was that the one where Bill lied about his relationship to Jennifer Flowers, and Hillary nodded in agreement? Classic Clinton!
